A benefit concert in support of four local students in need will be held Sunday, Aug. 5, in the LaFayette High School gym from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Admission is free, but a love offering will be taken in order to help offset medical costs for Austin Whitten, Brandon Lowe, Paige Roberts and Hannah Jackson.

Austin Whitten, a LaFayette High School three-sport athlete, sustained a severe injury to his neck and spine in a swimming accident in early June. His medical care is ongoing and expenses for his family are surely piling up.

Special singers for the event include Chris McDaniel, Got Mercy, Mercy Call, Vince Stalling and the LaFayette Second Baptist Church choir, among others.

Austin's last name is Whitten. Hope the event turns out great. Will try to make it, but may have to work.
