Ridgeland High School students and staff achieved the second highest Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores among all the schools in the Northwest Georgia RESA area. The SAT is the nation's most widely used college admissions test and is taken by more than two million students every year. It measures knowledge of academic subjects, reading and writing and how well students can apply that knowledge to think, solve problems and communicate. The second highest scores in the region place Ridgeland graduates in excellent position for success in the colleges of their choice and selected career areas.

State School superintendent Kathy Cox honored Ridgeland High School with the State Superintendent's Distinguished Achievement Award for U.S. History End of Course Test (EOCT) scores. Ridgeland came in eighth place out of the top ten in the state for improvement on the U.S. History EOCT by improving the passing rate and raising overall scores. Superintendent Cox said she recognized Ridgeland with this award for the outstanding work being done by the school, its staff and students.
