Chattanooga Valley upends Rossville in softball showdown

The Chattanooga Valley Lady Eagles scored seven times in the bottom of the second inning and beat longtime rival Rossville, 15-2, in a four-inning game Thursday at Ridgeland High School.

Rossville (0-3) led 2-1 entering the home half of the second when the Lady Eagles erupted at the plate. CVMS would tack on two more runs in the third before five more in the fourth ended the game via the run-rule.

Christa Parrish got the win the circle for the Lady Eagles. She struck out four hitters and gave up five hits.

Haley Sandridge was 2-for-2 with a sacrifice and two RBIs, Gracie Kruse was also 2-for-2 and collected a game-high five RBIs, including a walk-off three-run double, and Haley Walker contributed a pair of hits and two RBIs.

Whitney Boehm, Amaya Harrington, and Cameron Massey each drove in a run.

For the Lady Bulldogs, Makenzie Howard had a single, a double, and scored twice. Madison Simmons was 2-for-3 with a triple, a run scored and an RBI. Domonique Stubbs and Courtney Mooneyham each had a single.

Chattanooga Valley will play at Gordon Lee today at 5 p.m. while Rossville will travel to Lakeview on Sept. 13 for a 4:30 contest.
