A crowd of more than 220 guests applauded as chairman of the board Melody Day made the announcement and read a brief biography of Catlett’s accomplishments.
Catlett is a lifetime resident of Walker County. He serves as the president of Masonry Specialists, his own company. Catlett also spends much of his time working with numerous community organizations. These affiliations have led him to do many great things for the community including helping the Boy Scouts raise funds, organizing the Sonny Morrison-Chickamauga Community blood drive in August 2007, and directing traffic and parking cars at the Balloons & Tunes Festival.
He is a member of Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church, Kiwanis Club of Fort Oglethorpe, Blood Assurance and their North Georgia Advisory Board, Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority, Hutcheson Health Foundation, Gordon Lee Alumni Association and the Walker County Chamber of Commerce.
During his time in these organizations he has served in capacities ranging from member, board member, president and chairman. He continuously shows his love for Walker County through his continued efforts to serve his community. Though he is thoroughly dedicated to serving others, the first priority in his life is his wife and children.
The Citizen of the Year Award is sponsored by the Walker County Chamber of Commerce and is presented every year at the annual Walker County Gala. For more information, call the Chamber at 706-375-7702 or e-mail info@walkercochamber.com.
