LaFayette Rotary Club members recently voted in a straw poll for the 2012 General Election, which was held Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Fourteen Rotarians voted for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan for President and Vice President. Six club members voted for incumbents President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. One individual voted “none of the above.”

Sixteen Rotary Club members voted for U.S. Congressman Tom Graves, the Republican incumbent who serves the 14th Congressional District of Georgia. Four club members voted for democratic challenger Daniel “Danny” Grant.

Fifteen Rotarians voted for incumbent Bebe Heiskell to keep her sole county commissioner seat in Walker County. Six wrote in Ales Campbell, a write-in candidate for Walker County Commissioner.

Eighteen Rotary Club members voted for Sheriff Steve Wilson to keep his constitutional office, and two voted for Democratic opponent Tim Westbrook.

As for the Charter School amendment, two Rotarians voted “to allow state or local approval of public charter schools upon the request of local communities,” and 19 voted against the amendment.

Twelve Rotary Club members voted for the amendment, “to provide for a reduction in the state’s operating costs by allowing the General Assembly to authorize certain state agencies to enter into multi-year rental agreements,” and seven voted against the amendment.
