Many historians rate Andrew Johnson, Lincoln’s vice president, as our worst U.S. president, but he has a lot of competition.
What is it with these Republicans and the vice presidency, anyway? Nixon, Eisenhower’s vice president, became our first president to resign to avoid impeachment after Agnew, his own vice president, had resigned in disgrace. Probably the less said about poor Dan Quayle the better, and Dick Cheney may have been our worst ever.
In order to pump some pizzazz into a failing campaign, John McCain selected Sarah Palin as his running mate. She turned out to know less about geography and international affairs than the average high school senior. She walked off from her commitment as Alaska’s governor after only two years, some say to avoid dealing with a recalcitrant legislature.
And Republicans thought Sarah could deal with Congress?
Today, thank God, she appears only interested in making speeches for money and selling her books. Otherwise, she might be neck-and-neck with Cain, Perry, Romney, Gingrich, et. al.
Surely the GOP has more qualified vice-presidential candidates available for 2012 than the ones of the recent past.
But when one looks at their present array of presidential hopefuls, one wonders doesn’t one?

However, to counter what you say about republicans I would like to point out....
*Democrats instated Jim Crow laws, poll taxes and even created the KKK.
*Democratic Governor George Wallace in Alabama stood in the doorway of Foster Auditorium to affirm his pledge of “segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever.”
*Democrat Woodrow Wilson was a virulent racist
*Democrat FDR received 71% of the black vote but opposed anti-lynching laws and appointed two members of the Ku Klux Klan to positions of great authority.
*Democrat Harry Truman, a Klansman himself received 77% of the black vote in 1948 and did desegregate the U.S. Armed Forces, but vehemently opposed Civil Rights legislation.
*Democrats JFK and LBJ fought Dwight D. Eisenhower’s Civil Rights legislation of 1957 and had each consistently opposed other attempts at ensuring racial equality in America. The ONLY reason LBJ signed civil rights legislation was because of the times, MLK, Vietnam, riots, etc.
*Democrat Robert Byrd was a member of the KKK and in March of 2001 became angry and used the N word on national tv. The NAACP, Jesse Jackson, etc., all didn't say a word, only Republican Majority Leader Dick Armey came out against Byrd for his racism. Byrd was extremely active in the Klan and rose to the rank of Kleagle. Byrd once stated that he joined the Klan because it was effective in "promoting traditional American values"
*Democrat Franklin Delano Roosevelt started the Japanese Internment Camps during World War II. Roosevelt also appointed two notorious segregationists to the United States Supreme Court, one, Democrat Senator Hugo Black was a member of the KKK.
*The Democrat National Convention of 1924 was host to one of the largest Klan gatherings in American history.
So tell me again how great the D's are and how the R's are the party of hate?
By the way, I will not argue in favor of D's or R's, neither are worthy. However, reluctantly I will be voting for the capitalist in November and, I never voted for the socialist we have now, just like I didn't vote for socialists Gore and Kerry. It had nothing to do with the letter by their name or the color of their skin and everything to do with their politics. Gore actually campaigned for $7 a gallon gas! Just like Obama campaigned for, "electric bills that would necessarily skyrocket" and making businesses file for bankruptcy.
Let the hate attacks by D's start now (sigh)
John Edwards, The fraudster.
Al Gore, Chicken Little.
Henry A. Wallace, "Dear Guru" and Communists sympathizer
Geraldine A. Ferraro had more financial scandals than Sarah Palin in her fake "rags to riches" story.
The list goes on for all politicians, not just republican. "Men at their best are still men at best."
What the country needs is a financial answer to a financial problem. At the moment the only candidate with financial sounding answers is Romney/Ryan. Obama failed leading the worst recovery(sic)in history.
