Dear editor,

There may be many reasons to vote for or against the present Walker County commissioner.

To get your vote if it comes down to a single versus a multi-commissioner form of government, consider the following: We like to speak about being a democracy. In a true democracy, we would all vote on every issue; however, we have chosen as a compromise to be a representative democracy where our representatives vote (hopefully) the majority viewpoint.

For the most part, cities, counties, states and the federal government have chosen a multi-form of representation as opposed to a single representative to vote their interests. While a single representative might be efficient and effective and claim input from all interested parties, in the end it comes down to how it is interpreted and the political philosophy of that single person, without the peoples’ other representatives having an input on a decision. A single representative is not how we view governing in the U.S.

For the future, Walker County is seen as a Republican stronghold, and if it remains as a single commissioner form of government, the Democrats will certainly not be able to get their “oars in the water.” It would be in their self interest to write-in their vote for Ales Campbell.

With her election and the possibility of a future multi-commissioner form of government, there is a chance of picking up one or more Democratic commissioner spots depending on how the districts would be laid out. So in the Democrat’s self interest and those of us who believe in a true representative form of government, we should all write in vote for Ales Campbell.

George E. Eckerd, LaFayette

It is my opinion that she is not qualified to hold such office. In the board of elections meeting, she was asked by the board when she paid her delinquent State taxes of over $10k, and her answer was October 11, 2012, two days before the meeting. Would she have ever paid them had a complaint not been made?

Becky214, Are you still posting faults information? I see where Campbell went before the Walker county election commission this morning to present evidence that her taxes, and those of her husband and business... have been paid. Which prove the accusations were incorrect by you and Windcrest Viewpoint (the nothing but lies and mudslinging page) .

Walker county tax office told her the records of her tax debt were wrong, because the staff is behind in filing papers.

Sure....let's get another 5 man board in Walker County like in the 1950's. They put the county in bankruptcy!!

So? You make it sound as if being a democrat should disqualify her.
