Amy Lanier of Little River Equestrian, a horse facility on Lookout Mountain is putting to-gether an IEA Interscholastic Equestrian Association Team for this fall. This will be the first team of its kind in this area.

All riders in middle school or high school (grades 6 through 12) of all experience levels (including no experience) are qualified. The team can take up to 20 or 30 more students. Students that ride for the team will be expected to take at least four lessons per month. The team will take students through early November.

There are six regular-season, scheduled horse shows for this school year and then Zones and Nationals, which will be conveniently held at the International Horse Park in Conyers, Ga., this year. The classes at IEA shows include Huntseat Equitation on the flat and over fences and Western Horsemanship and Reining. There are levels ranging from beginner to advanced.

Because of the format of IEA shows, this is a great opportunity for children who are in-terested in riding and showing but may not have the money to own and maintain their own show horse. They will receive instruction at a discounted rate. It's also great for children who are interested in competing on Intercollegiate Equestrian teams in the future.
