Steve Nichols, 48, Chattanooga

Steven “Steve” Douglas Nichols of Chattanooga died Tuesday, February 19, 2013, following a car accident. He was 48.

He was a 1982 graduate of McCallie School, he then served in the United States Navy, and after the Navy he came back to Chattanooga and began working at Koch's Bakery. He also was a member of the NRA and was an avid gunsmith holding his 07 classification, and was a member of Calvary Chapel.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Nichols; brother, Dwayne Nichols; and stepfather, Lyle Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Nichols; mother, Barbara Davis; children, Candace Nichols, Steven Nichols, II, Thomas Nichols, all of Chattanooga; and niece, Elizabeth Rutkowski.

Funeral service: Sunday, Feb. 24, at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial: Chattanooga National Cemetery Monday, Feb. 25, at 10:30 a.m. Family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 23, from 4-6 p.m. and from 11 a.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.

Robert Lee Morris, 71, Rossville

Robert Lee Morris of Rossville died February 20, 2013. He was 71.

Survivors include his children, Timmy Morris, Mary War, John Morris and Paul Morris; four brothers and sisters; and grandson, Shane Robert Morris.

Johnny Ray Mosley, 73, Ringgold

Johnny Ray Mosley of Ringgold died Thursday, February 21, 2013. He was 73.

He was born in Brenham, Texas, to the late, Roy and Edith Mosley and had lived in the Ringgold area for the last 20 years. He was employed as a carpenter for most of his life and was a member of Carpenters Union Local #213 in Houston, Texas. He was of the Christian faith and was best known for always helping others in need. He enjoyed going to car auctions and also owned and operated Pops Garage behind his home in Ringgold. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, James and Buddy Mosley; and two sisters, Vera Clipper and Peggy Jasinski.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 54 years, Nelda Von Minden Mosley of Ringgold.; five children, Tammy Gaugh of Ooltewah, Tenn., Cynthia Lynn Brown of Weatherford, Texas, Cheryl Shupak of Willis, Texas, Mellisa Clampitt of Pinehurst, Texas, and David Ray Mosley of Ringgold.; two brothers, Kenneth Mosley of Brenham, Texas, and William Earl Mosley of Huntsville, Ala.; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; special friend, J.D. Berry and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial will be private and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Jimmie Faye Clardy, 77, Chattanooga

Jimmie Faye Clardy of Chattanooga died Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Hospice of Chattanooga facility. She was 77.

She did not loose the battle, she gained the victory. She was born December 27, 1935, to the late Granville and Florence Otinger, but had lived in the Chattanooga area for most of her life. She retired from Rossville Yarn in 2000 after almost 30 years of service and attended Joyful Sound Church of God until her illness. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lewis N. Clardy; brother, Melvin Otinger; and sister, Dorothy Maxwell.

Survivors include her one and only daughter and son-in-law, Annice and (Kelvin) Church and her two "grandbabies", Tyler Evans and Kevice Church, all of Hixson, Tenn.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Doyle and (Sue) Otinger of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Rayford and (Linda) Otinger of Section, Ala.; sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and (Clarence) Plank of Signal Mtn., Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Graveside services: Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 3 p.m. in the Lakewood Memory Gardens East with Bro. James Barker officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home.

V. Bonnie Hays, 86, Flintstone

V. Bonnie Hays of Flintstone died Saturday, February 23, 2013. She was 86.

She was a lifelong resident of Flintstone and was a member of Lookout Baptist Church. She graduated from Chattanooga Valley High School and retired from Uniform Rental Service in 1991 after more than 30 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hayden and Annie Hays.

Survivors include her sister, Mary H. Cain of Flintstone; nephew and spouse, Lewis and (Drue) Cain; great nephews, Chris, William and Daniel Cain; and eight great-grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 3:30 p.m. in the Lookout Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Burns officiating. Burial: Lookout Cemetery. Visitation: Monday, Feb. 25, from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home and the body will lie-in-state from 2:30 p.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday.

Linda Ann Wright Mann, 64, LaFayette

Linda Ann Wright Mann of LaFayette died Saturday, February 23, 2013. She was 64.

She was preceded in death by husband, Melvin (Moose) Mann; parents, Johnny Wright and Kathrin Brown. She was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Mann Titus of Farmington, Maine; sons Mark Mann, Trion, and Matthew Mann, all of LaFayette; sister Judy Hawthorne of Fort Payne, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Della Ann Skidmore, 49, Chickamauga

Della Ann Skidmore of Chickamauga died Sunday, February 24, 2013. She was 49.

She was born November 24, 1963, to the late William P. and Ruby Sims Forrester in Fort Oglethorpe and she was a member of Milwee Hollow Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, David Lebron Skidmore; son, Jerry Lebron Skidmore, both of Chickamauga; three sisters, Linda Russell of Chickamauga, Brenda Smiley of Chattanooga Valley and Carolyn Walters of Fort Oglethorpe; brother, Paul Weshon of Chickamauga; and, two grandchildren, Emily Grace Skidmore and Lauren Elizabeth Skidmore.

Funeral service: Wednesday, Feb. 27, at noon with Pastor Alfred Holland officiating. Burial: Coulter Cemetery. Visitation: Monday, Feb. 25, from 5-9 p.m., Tuesday from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. and prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Joan Jarrell, 66, Cleveland, Tenn.

Joan "Maw" Jarrell of Cleveland, Tenn., died Sunday, February 24, 2013. She was 66.

She worked for Quarles Motor Co. for 18 years and was of the Pentecostal faith.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dillard Nichols; and partner, Butch Smith.

Survivors include her children, Sherry (Bill) Cranfield of Decatur, Gloria Williams of Cleveland, Gary (Tammy) Jarrell of Rossville, Tony (Kristy) Jarrell of Ringgold; mother, Mae Dyer of Cleveland; siblings, Jerry Nichols, Donna Langdon, Angie Riddle, all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Tamara Mae, April, Ashley, A.J., Baylei, Austin; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Donald H. Scott, Jr., 79, Ringgold

Donald H. Scott Jr. of Ringgold died Sunday, February 24, 2013, in a Macon medical facility. He was 79.

He retired as a supervisor after 44 and a half years with Chattanooga Paperboard formerly Container Corporation of America and he was of the Christian faith. He loved cooking, talking and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Henry Scott Sr. and Odie Mae Clayton Scott; two sons, Donald Alan Scott and Brian Douglas Scott; sister, Martha Scott Gentry Lappin; and brother, Eugene Leroy Scott.

Survivors include his wife of 46 and a half years, Mary Nelson Scott; sons, Steven Perry (Brenda) Scott, Christopher Sean (Jodie) Scott and Jason Clayton (Ramona) Scott; grandchildren, Mia Scott (Ryan) Burnfin, Joshua Scott, David Scott, Daniel Scott, Zach Scott, Abby Scott, Bridgette Newbille, Brandy Bates, Dustin Strickland and Josh Strickland; and great-grandchildren, Elijah and Austin.

Jack L. Parker, 86, Rossville

Jack L. Parker of Rossville died Monday, February 25, 2013, at a local hospital. He was 86.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from Cavalier and was the owner/operator of Fort Oglethorpe Cab until 1998 He enjoyed bird watching, listening to country busic, watching Western Movies and CNN. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and will missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; sister; and grandson, Rodney Short.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Gladys Parker; and two daughters, Terri Short (Bill) of Fort Oglethorpe and Cathy Parker (Tom Ford) of Ringgold; granddaughter, Angie Griffith; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Brecken Griffith.

Virginia Joy, Summerville

Virginia Joy Masters of Summerville died Sunday, February 24, 2013. She was 58.

She was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., to the late Ellis Lee and Lola B. Masters. She went by “Joy” which she brought to anyone she met. She loved to give hugs and kisses as well. She had a contagious smile that lit-up the room. She loved her stuffed animal “Dog”. She enjoyed attending church at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, New Spirit in Truth and Prince of Peace. She loved to sing and her favorite song was “Joy – Joy – Joy – Down in My Heart.” She enjoyed the Day Program at Lookout Mountain Community Service along with the Kaleidoscope group in Summerville.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Masters.

Survivors include her caregivers and will be greatly missed by JoAnn Martin, Ashley Martin, Briana Martin, Rushaud Price, Denissia Price, Chas and Iain Price all of Summerville.

Susie Mae “Granny” Hammontree Richardson of LaFayette died Thursday, February 21, 2013. She was 83.

She was a member of the Naomi Baptist Church. She worked formally with Pruetts Food Town, E.T. Barwick Mill, and the Dollar General Store.

She was preceded in death by husband, Dewey Richardson, Jr.; parents, Eddie and Agnes Puryear Hammontree; sisters, Louise Williams, and Laura Byers; brothers, James Hammontree, Virgil Hammontree, Clay Hammontree, and Judson Hammontree.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Richardson of LaFayette; sons, Randall (Carolyn) Richardson of LaFayette, Myron (Phala) Richardson of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn., and Skipper (Doris) Richardson of LaFayette; sisters, Edith Boyd of Rocky Face and Mildred (Reynolds) Crowder of Chickamauga; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Betty Jean Wilkins Traylor, 74, Rossville

Betty Jean Wilkins Traylor of Rossville died Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at her long-time home in Rossville after a long struggle with COPD. She was 74.

She was affectionately called MawMaw and was born in Rainsville, Ala. Her hobbies included cooking and taking care of her plants and making each day brighter for her family and friends. She retired from Bevis Rope after 21 years of service and she was of the Baptist faith. She is having a coffee-break with God now, until we see you again, we love you, MawMaw.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Tiffany Traylor; parents, Cecil and Edith Wilkins; sister, Ruth Stone; and brother, Dale Wilkins.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Durell Traylor; sons, Darrel (Cheryl) Traylor and Tony Traylor; grandchildren, Eden Traylor, English (Rachel) Storer and Blake Traylor; sisters, Ann Smith and Mary-Frank Chesser; and brother, Bill Wilkins.

He was a U. S. Air Force veteran who loved music and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel W. Townsend.

Sara Rich Steadman, 92, East Ridge

Sara Rich Steadman of East Ridge died Wednesday, February 20, 2013, in a local healthcare facility. She was 92.

She was a native of the Chattanooga and north Georgia area and had lived many years in Sacramento, Calif. She retired in 1982 from the Civil Service with over 20 years of service. Following her retirement she moved back to East Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Steadman; parents, Robert and Lula Rich; and brother, R.D. Rich, Jr.

Survivors include her dearest friends and cousins Joe and Frances King; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service: Friday, Feb. 22, at 2:30 p.m. at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park with Rev. Billy Dean officiating.

Henry Franklin Beckum, 80, LaFayette

Henry Franklin "Frank" Beckum, of LaFayette, born June 6, 1932, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. He was 80.

He was born in Mayfield. He graduated from Washington High (Wilkes County) and Georgia Military College (GMC) where he played on both schools' football teams. Following graduation from GMC, he attended and graduated from the University of Georgia and The University of Georgia Lumpkin School of Law. While at the University, Frank was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity, and GRIDIRON Secret Society. After college, he served as a commissioned officer in the Georgia National Guard. He worked in the banking, legal, and hospitality industries. He enjoyed family, friends, good company, horses and bird dogs. His hobbies included reading, sailing, bird dog field trials, vegetable gardening, and horseback riding. His cheerfulness and zest for life will be sorely missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Jackson Beckum, Sr., and his mother, Marie Ray Beckum; his brother, Alfred Jackson Beckum, Jr.; and sister, Elizabeth Marie Beckum.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Nelson Beckum of St Simon’s Island; sons, Henry Franklin Beckum, Jr. (Kim) of St Simons Island, Charles A. Beckum of Charlottesville, Va., Thomas H. Beckum (Laura) of Dallas, Texas; daughters, Elisabeth Beckum Naquim (Alan) of New Orleans, La., and Elizabeth Beckum Thrash (Joe) of Chickamauga; and eight precious grandchildren.

Hazel M. Farmer, 88, East Ridge

Hazel M. Farmer of East Ridge died Wednesday, February 20, 2013. She was 88.

She was the daughter of the late John Miller and the late Ruth Griffith Miller. She was a legal secretary and worked in the title field for over 50 years. She was a member of Chattanooga Legal Secretaries Association and served as president for two terms. She was also Legal Secretary of the Year. She was a communicant of Christ-Church Episcopal.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond (R.G.) Farmer; and daughters, Dina S. Breedlove and Sandra Lewis Hill.

Survivors include her daughter, Cindy G. Farmer; great-grandson and caregiver, Matthew L Faires; grandchildren Carol Lynn Barrett, Kim Searcy Rogers, Alicia Breedlove Mullis, Chris Breedlove, Heather Lewis, Bonnie Lewis Spurlock and Tiffanie Hill; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Betty Jo Wheeler Suttle, LaFayette

Betty Jo Wheeler Suttle of Lafayette died Sunday, February 17, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Suttle, Sr., her parents, Daniel Webster, Mamie Forney Wheeler and seven sisters.

She was a member of Happy Home Baptist Church and retired from the Walker County Department of Family and Children Service.

Survivors include her four sons, Robert Lee Suttle, Jr., Stacey Twyman Suttle of Lafayette, Retired Master Sgt. Shannon Chevette (Gloria) Suttle, Sr., and Kota Chalfant (Rhonda K.) Suttle of Atlanta; 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Maxwell, Annie W. Charles Clifford Cross, 88, Cloudland

Charles Clifford Cross of Cloudland died Tuesday, February 19, 2013. He was 88.

Robert David Stiles, Sr., 70, Chickamauga

Robert David “Bob” Stiles, Sr., CPCU, CLU, ARM, of Chickamauga died on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, in a local hospital after a five-month battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was 70.

He was born on September 30, 1942, to the late James Park Stiles, Sr., and Mary Reese Stiles of Lafayette. He was a 1960 graduate of Lafayette High School and went on to graduate from West Georgia College with a BA of Economics in 1965. After graduating college, he met his wife and sweetheart, Catherine Davis Stiles, while playing tennis at a city park in Atlanta. They married on August 23, 1969, in Norfolk, Va. While living in Atlanta, he began his career in the insurance business working for The Hartford Insurance Company. Bob and Catherine moved back to the north Georgia area in 1970, and they purchased Flegal Insurance in Rossville from the Flegal family at that time. This purchase allowed Bob to become the third generation in the Stiles’ family to be in the insurance business in Walker County. The Stiles family built their home in Chickamauga in 1978 where they have lived ever since. He was a longtime member of Grace Episcopal Church in Chattanooga where he served in many capacities including chairman of the Vestry. He was currently a member of the Church of the Nativity in Fort Oglethorpe, the Gordon Pond Fishing Club in Lafayette, and Council Fire Golf Club. He also attended many events at the Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church in Chickamauga and he served his country in the United States Air National Guard. He was a well-respected citizen of Walker County who supported and contributed to countless community organizations. He served as chairman of the board for the Young Agents of Georgia (1974-1975), Foundation Board for Hutcheson Medical Center (1994-1998), and Insurors of Chattanooga (1982). He also served on several boards including the Walker County Chamber of Commerce, the North Georgia YMCA, West Georgia College Board of Trustees, the Classic 150, Northwest Georgia Girl’s Home, The Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia, and numerous other boards. While being the owner and operator of Flegal Insurance, he received numerous awards including, Walker County Citizen of the Year, Walker County Small Business of the Year, Walker County Chamber Member of the Year, Edgar Dunlap Award with the IIAG, Boss of the Year from the Insurance Women of Chattanooga, North Georgia YMCA Volunteer of the Year, and many others. He was a compassionate, kind, and generous man who had a willing spirit to help anyone in need. He was a wonderful father who was greatly involved with his children from Boy Scouts, camping trips, to taking them on “Wally World” vacations. His passions in life were his family, spending time with his grandsons teaching them about golf, the Civil War, and the Stiles family history. He also greatly enjoyed watching cartoons, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the Atlanta Falcons with his grandsons, golfing, traveling to St. Simons Island for vacation, and collecting antique cars, his favorite being his 1960 S2 Bentley.

He was preceded in death by his loving sweetheart of 42 years, Catherine Davis Stiles; and brother, James Park “Jimmy” Stiles, Jr.

Survivors include his three children, Robert David Stiles, Jr. (Cary) of Chickamauga, Wilson Webb Stiles, Sr., (Chrissy) of Fort Oglethorpe, Laura Stiles Eldridge (Todd) of Chickamauga; sister, Peggy McKown of East Ridge; six beloved grandsons “his six pack”, Ryan Foster Eldridge, Reece Steven Eldridge, Davis Todd Eldridge, Robert David Stiles, III, “Tripp”, Wilson “Webb” Stiles, Jr., and Benjamin Reynolds Stiles; sister-in-law, Nancy Stiles of Gainesville; nieces and nephews, David (Cynthia) McKown, Lane (Konnie) McKown, Linda (Garry) Day, Susan (Barry) Shields, and Sandra (Joe) Collier; special friends, Peggy Ball and her daughter, Sheena English and Fran Hartis; and caregiver, Diane Parker.

His wishes were to have a private family funeral and interment service. Burial: Chickamauga City Cemetery. John Melvin Page of Rossville died Wednesday, February 20, 2013. He was 59.

He was a lifelong resident of the north Georgia area and was of the Christian faith. He was previously employed with American Alternator and Battery as a foreman for more than 15 years and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Rooster" and Nora Page.

Susan Sosebee Simmons of LaFayette died Sunday, February 18, 2013. She was 56.

She was a member of the LaFayette Church Of Christ, and she retired from the nursing field after many years of service.

She was preceded in death by her father, Minister Clark Sosebee.

Ronald C. “Ronny”Walker of Ringgold died Tuesday, February 19, 2013, in a local health care facility. He was 73.

He was a a lifelong resident of Catoosa County and a member of Burning Bush Baptist Church. He enjoyed the Tennessee Volunteers and working in his garage.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Wilson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Nelda Walker; son, Ronald K. Virginia Dobson, 79, LaFayette

Virginia “Sug” Dobson of LaFayette passed away February 18, 2013, at her home after an extended illness. She was 79.

She was born on August 26, 1933, in LaFayette to the late Homer and Emma Dobson. She was a 1951 graduate of LaFayette High School and received an associates degree in business from McKenzie Business College of Chattanooga. She retired from the Fulton County Department of Family and Children Services after 32 years. She was a lifelong member of the Church of God, where she was the pianist for many years. She was a member of the Senior Adult Ministry, and also enjoyed being part of the Nursing Home Ministry.

“Sug” was preceded in death by her parents; brothers; Leroy, Johnny and Oliver Dobson; sisters, Doris Scoggins and Bernice Brown.

Survivors include her brother, Bill (Sammie) Dobson of LaFayette; sister-in-laws, Georgia Dobson of South Pittsburg, Tenn., and Frances Dobson of LaFayette; and several nieces and nephews.

Donna Gale Brodie, 49, Rossville

Donna Gale Brodie of Rossville died Saturday, February 16, 2013, peacefully at her home with her husband and daughters by her side. She was 49.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Ernest V. Henegar; maternal grandparents, Fred D. and Elsie Marie Richardson and her beloved mother, Alice Marie Henegar. She was born October 27, 1963, in Southgate, Los Angeles County, Calif. She attended Cloud Springs Elementary, Lakeview Middle School and was a 1981 graduate of Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School. Her professional career choice was nursing where she proudly served the Fort Oglethorpe, East Ridge and Chattanooga communities for over 25 years. Most of that time was served at the Hutcheson Medical Center in Fort Oglethorpe helping save lives in the trauma/emergency unit. On February 26, 1983, she married the man of her dreams and became Mrs. Donna Brodie for life. She also had many interests other than her chosen profession. She loved to worship God and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Fort Oglethorpe. Spending time with her family was always at the top of her list. However, her other interests including playing with her B.F.F. Makenzie, softball, golf, fishing, camping, Georgia Bulldog football, laughing, loving and enjoying life, especially with her husband, Ray of nearly 30 years. As a child she loved twirling baton, tennis, softball, singing and playing music with her mother, cheerleading and travel. Her "Happy Place" was the sugar white beaches of Destin, Fla., where she traveled to countless times during her optimistic and fun-loving life and spent many a happy day in her perfect place on earth. However, her greatest talents were her patience, kindness to others, leadership, positive outlook and the God-given ability to develop her own unique style of communication with canvas, paint and a brush. A legacy to be cherished by all that knew and loved her.

Cathy Jean Sargent of Rossville died Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at her home. She was 56.

She was born in Ringgold to the late James Teems and Frankie Mosley. She worked for Blue Cross-Blue Shield in Chattanooga for 15-plus years and was of the Baptist faith.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Teems, and step-father, Ray Mosley.

Survivors include her loving husband of 40 years, Frankie Sargent, of Rossville; sons, Aaron (Shelley) Sargent of Germany, Adam (Tobie) Keown of Kentucky; siblings, Shirley Wilburn of Mississippi, Ronnie and Adam Teems, both of Rossville; grandchildren, Levi, Ann Marie, Wesley, Avery, Lena, and many nieces and nephews.

Lester Eugene Barnes of Ringgold died Sunday, February 17, 2013, after battling cancer for two years. He was 68.

A lifelong resident of the north Georgia area, he was a former employee of Collegedale Case Works where he worked for 15 years and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Betty Epperson Barnes; brothers, David and Robert "Sonny"; and sisters, Margie, Marie and Grace.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Marilyn Anderson Barnes of Ringgold; three children, Bobby (Leann) Barnes of Harrison, Charles Barnes of Ringgold, and Crystal (Brian) Barnes Herndon of Englewood, Fla.; sister, Doris Morgan of Chatsworth; four grandchildren, Mitchell Herndon, Rachal Herndon, Logan Barnes and Lauren Barnes Jablonski; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Herndon and McKenzie Berning; and several nieces and nephews.

Alma Ann Gowan of Rossville died Monday February 18, 2013, in a local healthcare facility. She was 88.

She enjoyed flowers, plants, music, flea markets, talking and fellowshipping with friends that she loved. She was a very devoted mother and friend and was a member of Chattanooga First Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Gowan; great-granddaughter, Jennifer Caldwell; parents, Robert and Lucy Harris; brothers, William and Charlie Harris and sister, Frances Crawford.

Dorotha Lee Walker, 90, Rossville

Dorotha Lee Walker “Dot” of Rossville died Monday, February 18, 2013. She was 90.

She had lived most of her life in Rossville where she was a faithful worker and volunteer at the John Ross House having decorated for the holidays and cleaned for many years. She was known in Rossville as the “Duck Lady”. She retired in 1988 from DuPont with over 20 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pink and Ella Walker; sister, Erma Sisson; and brothers, Joe and James Walker.

Survivors include her sons, Ardell (Charlotte) Millard and Raymond (Kathy) Christison; brothers and sister, Ray (Betty) Walker, Billie Hughey, and Barry (Mary Jane) Walker; grandchildren, Mark, Melissa, Nancy, David and Bo; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Bobbie Jean Goodson Scott Hennessey, 78, Chickamauga

Bobbie Jean Goodson Scott Hennessey of Chickamauga died Sunday, February 17, 2013, in Nashville, Tenn. She was 78.

She was born on May 26, 1934, to the late Robert Jerome and Lois Caldona Boyles Goodson. She attended school at Chickamauga City Schools and graduated from Tyner High School in Chattanooga, Tenn., class of 1951. She then attended Edmondson School of Business and graduated in 1952. She was a former resident of Chattanooga, Tenn., Philadelphia, Pa., and Wiesbaden, Germany, during the 1960’s where she worked for the United States Air Force in Europe. She retired from General Services Administration as Deputy to the Assistant Commissioner for Information Resources Procurement in Washington, D.C., after 30 years of service with the federal government. After retiring she moved to Nashville, Tenn., and has resided there for the past 19 years. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James F. Hennessey.

Survivors include her brother, Ewing Marsh (Katharine) Goodson of McMinnville, Tenn.; niece, Kaye (John M.) Dennison of Springfield, Tenn.; nephew, Jeffrey Todd (Crystal) Goodson of Clarksville, Tenn.; great nieces, Katie Jean Dennison and Lilly Dennison both of Springfield, Tenn.
