Ronnie Lee Dickerson, 48, Chickamauga

Ronnie Lee Dickerson of Chickamauga died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, in a local hospital. He was 48.

He was a lifelong resident of the north Georgia area where he was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Rossville. He received his HVAC and Welding degrees from Walker Tech and went on to pursue a career in building maintenance. His passions in life were his family, fishing, camping, gardening, and building things.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Dickerson.

Survivors include his wife, DeLisa Curl Dickerson; mother, Dean Dickerson of Trenton; brother, Randy (Devon) Dickerson of Bryant, Ala.; sisters, Linda (Mark Roland) Dickerson of Marietta, Lisa Dickerson of Trenton; and several nephews; great nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and family.

Funeral services: Saturday, June 16, at 11a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Revs. Tracy Brinson and Jim Bennett officiating. Burial: Lake Hills Memorial Gardens, Trenton. Visitation: Friday, June 15, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lulabel Dietz Brown, 90, Ringgold

Lulabel Dietz Brown of Ringgold died Wednesday, June 13, 2012. She was 90.

She was a lifelong resident of the north Georgia area and was a member of Clearview Baptist Church. She was completely devoted to her family and was a foster parent for numerous children throughout the years. She enjoyed reading and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Billy” Brown, Sr.

Survivors include her son, Charles Brown, Jr.; two daughters, Crystal Anne Brown and Karen Hall, all of Ringgold; seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and numerous foster children.

Funeral service: Saturday, June 16, at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial: Dietz Cemetery. Visitation: Friday, June 15, after 4 p.m. and prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Judy Morris Lowe, 74, Ft. Oglethorpe

Judy Morris Lowe formerly of Chattanooga and Ft. Oglethorpe died June 15, 2012, in Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Ala. She was 74.

She was a longtime member of Duncan Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga. She was the daughter of the late Frederick Earl Morris and Francis Lois Bass Morris.

Survivors incldue her loving husband of 56 years, Charles W. Lowe; children, Lisa (Robert Karl) Mitchum of Huntsville, Ala., Martha (Gary) Lavender of Birmingham, Ala., Karen (Marty) Lawson of Lexington Park, Md., Christopher (Karen) Lowe of Ringgold; brother, Jerry M. Morris of Chickamauga; sister, Debbye Morris Thrasher of Pleasureville, Ky; eight grandchildren, Joshua (Lindsay) Burroughs, Ryan Burroughs, Meredith Barbee, all of Huntsville, Ala., Brandon and Nicholas Lowe of Ringgold, Marissa and Ashley Lavender, Huntsville of Ala., Kayla Lawson, U.S. Navy; and her first great-grandchild, Liam Burroughs of Huntsville, Ala.

Dennis Murl Snyder, 61, Apsion

Dennis Murl Snyder of Apison died Thursday June 14, 2012. He was 61.

He had lived in the Chattanooga area for most of his life and was employed with Qualls Masonry for more than 20 years. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and loved sports, was an avid Vols fan and Jeff Gordon fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Hazel Snyder.

Survivors include his three children, Donna Groce of Fort Oglethorpe, Dennis Snyder, Jr. of Dalton, and Kimberly Snyder of Chattanooga, Tenn; brother, Dewey “Buddy” Snyder of Apison, Tenn.; three sisters, Joyce Davis of Apison, Tenn., Velma Rogers of Fort Oglethorpe and Wanda Floyd of Rossville; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; best friend, Mitchell Qualls and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: Monday, June 18, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Visitation: Saturday, June 16, after 3 p.m., all day Sunday and prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Wanda Dawn Proctor, Rossville

Wanda Dawn Proctor of Rossville died Monday, June 11, 2012, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Walker County and member of Shields Baptist Church in Chickamauga. She was a 1969 graduate of Rossville High School. She was a devoted pastor’s wife, loving mother and devoted grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold T. Foster and a brother, Dale Foster.

Survivors include her loving husband of 42 years, Rev. Bill Proctor; daughters, Angie (Marty) Phillips of Rock Spring, Victoria Lynn Proctor of Rossville; brother, Gene (Carolyn) Foster of Rossville; two sisters, Marilyn (Lindsey) Knight of New Bern, N.C., Gay (Floyd) Amburn of Hixson, Tenn.; devoted cousin, Elaine Proctor; and was a devoted Mamaw to Haley and Leigh Anne Phillips; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services: Thursday, June 14, at noon in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South, with Rev. Bill Proctor and Rev. Bobby Ballew officiating. Visitation: Wednesday, June 13, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gerald Max Chambers, 70 Chattanooga

Gerald Max Chambers of Chattanooga died Wednesday, June 13, 2012. He was 70.

He was born in Crossville, Ala., to the late Jeannie W. and Lutealia Jarmon Chambers and moved to the Chattanooga area in 1961. He served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from Ingles after 25 yrs. in 2010. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Gwinell Bowling.

Survivors include his wife of 10 yrs, Shirley Chambers; daughters, Karen McGrath(Randy) of Soddy Daisy, Sharon Chambers of Chattanooga, and Alisha Whalen(Joe) of Hixson; son, Evan Whited(Kristina) of Bryant, Ala.; sisters, Jean Buckalew Andrews of Pensacola, Fla., Hellen Marshall of Molino, Fla., Marie Wheeler of Ringgold, and Sandra Chambers of Dallas; brothers, Thomas Chambers of Crossville, Ala., Kenneth David Chambers of Powder Springs and Glenn Chambers of Trussville, Ala.; grandchildren, Devan Gilbert (Ethan), Taylor Whited, Alexis Whited, Brandon McGrath, and Holly McGrath; and several nieces and nephews.

Ronald David Barnes, 70, Ringgold

Ronald David Barnes of Ringgold died June 13, 2012, at his home. He was 70.

He was the son of the late Robert “ Bob” and Betty Barnes. He lived and worked most of his life in and around Ringgold, and retired from Color Spectrum in LaFayette. He had also worked in the textile industry in Ringgold, Dalton, and LaFayette and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a loving husband and a good man and he will be missed. He was preceded in death by sisters, Irene, Grace and Margie Barnes, Marie Mathis; brothers, Henry and Robert “Sonny” Barnes; and beloved granddaughter, Jennifer Nowatny Barnes.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Linda Barnes; daughters, Patty Ann Cranfield and Cynthia Stinnett; son, David Wayne Barnes; brother, Lester Barnes; sister, Doris Morgan; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mary Mildred White Arp of Rossville died Sunday, June 10, 2012, in a local hospital. She was 93.

She was a lifelong resident of north Georgia and was a member of Wallaceville Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late James Carter and Myra Hall White, and was preceded in death by her husband, Harold H. Arp and brother, Denver White.

Survivors include her children, Caroline Arp, Lamar (Joyce) Arp, all of Rossville; Sam (Nancy) Arp of Chickamauga, and Earl (Sandy) Arp of Ringgold; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Thomas Ardell Dunn, 85, Ringgold

Thomas Ardell Dunn of Ringgold died Monday, June 11, 2012, in a local hospital. He was 85.

He was a native of Chattanooga and had lived in Dade County, Fla., for more than 50 years before moving to Ringgold 25 years ago. He was a member of Brainerd United Methodist Church where he attended the Friendship Class. He was a member of the Masons and Shriners. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Hussey.

Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Phyllis Cline Dunn; daughters, Brenda Casey of Silver Creek, Sherry Novack of Fla.; ten grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to nephew, Mike Jones.

Funeral service: Thursday, June 14, at 2 p.m. at Brainerd United Methodist Church, McFerrin Chapel, with Rev. Dennis Flaugher and Rev. Genevieve DeHoog. Burial will be private. Visitation: Thursday from 1-2 p.m. at the church.

Inez Morgan of Rossville died Friday, June 8, 2012. She was 92.

She was a longtime resident of north Georgia. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church and was the owner/operator of Morgan’s Beauty Shop for over 40 years before retiring. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryce C. Morgan and a son, Mike Morgan.

Survivors include her daughter, Billie Morgan Barry of Birmingham, Ala.; son, Darrell (Frankie) Morgan of Ringgold; three brothers, Don Brock of Harrison, Charles Brock of Ocala, Fla., and Tommy Brock of Dandridge, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Stan Barry, Mark Barry, Chris Morgan, Sherri Kimes, Adam Morgan and Aaron Morgan; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Huie Frances Smith Nichols Krauhs of Rossville died Wednesday June 6, 2012. She was 64.

A lifelong resident of the Catoosa County area, she was a former employee of Mohawk Industries and attended North Whitfield Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, James “Frank” Nichols; parents, George and Cora Mitchell Smith; brother, Danny Wayne Smith; and grandson, Kyle Dewayne Hill.

Ronda Lynn Langford Johnson of Chickamauga died Thursday, June 7, 2012. She was 32.

She was a 1998 graduate of Ridgeland High School where she received 2-Time All American Honors in Cheerleading, and later went to University Tennessee of Chattanooga as a cheerleader. She was baptized at Elizabeth Terrace Baptist Church in Rossville, and was a loving mother and wife.

Survivors include her husband, Lebron Johnson; son, Holland Jerry Johnson both of Chickamauga; parents, Jerry and Phyllis Langford of Rossville; siblings, Cindy (Joe) Goodson, Vickie (Robert) Strickland all of Rossville, John (Janet) Duran of Chickamauga, Tony (Toni) Langford of Colorado, Jerry (Jennifer) Langford of California, Michael (Jean) Langford of Colorado, Brad (Jessica) Langford of Rossville; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Lucile Callahan Jeffress Sartin of Rossville died Friday, June 8, 2012. She was 95.

She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and Rossville where she retired from Memorial Hospital and was a member of Delray Baptist Church. Her passions in life were playing the piano and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Jeffress; son, David Jeffress; step-daughter, Barbara (Jeffress) Page; parents, Gabriel Rodulphus "Roe" and Dora (Wyatt) Callahan; brothers, Earl and Edd Callahan; and sisters, Gladys (Callahan) Bevis and Mary Ellen (Callahan) Hixson.

Betty A. Steele, 74

Betty A. Steele died Friday, June 8, 2012, in a local healthcare facility. She was 74.

Born November 11, 1937. She was a graduate of Central High School and Chattanooga State Community College in Chattanooga, Tenn. She was employed by Rossville Companies nearly forty years serving as Quality Assurance Manager for upholstery textiles where she was a member of the ASTM Society and Joint Industry Fabric Committee for many years. Her last years of employment for the Tennessee Department of Safety as a drivers license examiner was her calling as she enjoyed serving the public alongside coworkers and management. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lilah Belle (Brooks) and Roy Edmond Rogers, ex-husband, Walter Lee Steele and daughter, Dianna Francis Steele.

Bettye Jewell Leonard of Ringgold died Saturday, June 9, 2012. She was 80.

She was born in Chattanooga to the late Thomas and Mamie Leonard. She retired from Bell South after 17 years of service as a telephone operator.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack and Gene Leonard; sisters, Virginia Hagler and Nancy Leonard.

Survivors include her siblings, Patricia Chambers of East Ridge, Joyce Carter of LaFayette, Bill Leonard of East Ridge; and several nieces and nephews.

Clifford Franklin Bailey Sr., 85, Rossville

Clifford Franklin Bailey Sr. of Rossville died Saturday, June 9, 2012. He was 85.

He was born to the late Qunicy and Viola Bailey on May 19, 1927, in Calhoun. He retired after 42 years from Wheland Foundry, was of the Protestant faith and he enjoyed gardening and Atlanta Braves baseball.

He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Bailey; son and fiance; Cliff Bailey Jr. and Jen Irvin, all of Rossville; sisters, Jeanette Barnett and Geraldine Worley; brothers, Dude and Kenneth Bailey, all of Calhoun.

Willie Ruth Walker Clark of Flintstone died Saturday, June 9, 2012. She was 88.

She was born to the late Jim and Etta Walker on March 20, 1924, in Boaz, Ala. She attended Faith Baptist Tabernacle and enjoyed working in her flowers.

She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her daughters, Loretta Parrish of Rossville, Anna Cribs of Flintstone; sons, David Clark of Chattanooga, Monroe (Cindy) Clark of Statesboro, Roger Clark of Ringgold; nine grandchildren and nineteen great-randchildre;, several nieces and nephews.

Linda Sue Smith Fillers, 65, Rossville

Linda Sue Smith Fillers of Rossville died June 9, 2012. She was 65.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Illilenn Smith; brother, Ronnie Smith; and niece Jerrie Lynn Roberts.

She was a member of Mission Ridge Baptist Church for 75 years where she was also a member of the Golden Hearts Senior Club. She was a member of Cardinal Garden Club and the Chickamauga Home Demonstration Club. She was preceded in death by nine brothers and one sister.

Natalie Yvette Teems Caylor, 47, Ooltewah, Tenn.

Natalie Yvette Teems Caylor of Ooltewah, Tenn., died Friday June 1, 2012, at Erlanger Hospital with her husband and father-in-law by her side. She was 47.

She had been battling her breast cancer and related complications since 2006. She fought to stay around for her family until the very last breath. Everyone that met her was inspired by her unbounded strength and determination. Though she will be missed, we are all relieved that she will never have cancer again. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Sandra Edgeman Teems.

Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Eddie Caylor Jr. of Ooltewah, Tenn.; daughter, Quincey Caylor of Ooltewah, Tenn.; grandmother, Ruth Gibson of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and her three cats.

Carlton J. Farmer, 92, Rossville

Carlton J. Farmer of Rossville died Saturday, June 2, 2012. He was 92.

He was raised in the Adairsville area, but has lived in the Chattanooga and north Georgia area for most of his life. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was a Navy Veteran of World War II, where he was a trainer for the Seabees. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and as a member of the Tompkins Masonic Lodge #466 F&AM. He was a professional sign painter for most of his life and included such clients as, Sterchi Brothers, a furniture chain based in Knoxville, Tenn., the Kayo Oil Company, Raceway Oil Company and he also painted the outfield advertising wall at the famous Engle Stadium. He was also employed with Lookout Mountain Tennessee Police Department before retiring in 1992 after more than 14 years of service as a Deputy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phenie C. Odom Farmer and his father, Bascomb P. Farmer; twin sisters, Madge Whitfield and Grace Bennett; two brothers, Boyd Farmer and John Farmer.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 69 years, Ruth White Farmer of Rossville; sons and daughters-in-law, Joel D. and (Sherry) Farmer of Rossville, and Gary R. and (Connie) Farmer of Flintstone; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Lonnie Leonard Gravitt of Chickamauga died Saturday, June 2, 2012. He was 75.

He was a lifelong resident of the Chickamauga area and was of the Baptist faith. He had worked as a machinist for most of his life at several different manufacturing plants and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl T. And Thelma Gravitt; daughter, Roxanna Gravitt and two sisters, Marie Gravitt and Peggy Chambers.

Walter Carl Carlton, 77, Ringgold

Walter Carl Carlton of Ringgold and Arcadia, Fla., died Tuesday, May 29, 2012. He was 77.

He was born in Flat Rock, Ala., to the late William Walter and Ruby Elizabeth Akins Carlton. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and retired after thirty years of service. After retiring from the U.S. Navy he was employed by Pro-Fab Machine Shop in Rossville. He was a musician who taught himself to play the guitar, banjo, mandolin and bass. His enthusiasm for singing and playing enabled him to participate in bluegrass groups of all kinds. He played in several bands, notably “Possum Hollow Grass” and “Wagon Tracks.” He enjoyed bluegrass jams both in Florida and Georgia. He had talented hands for building. He constructed a cottage at his Ringgold residence and a camp house at the Arcadio residence. He collected miniature tractors, as well as full size tractors. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jnie Revels Carlton; daughter, Wanda Carlton Wills; brothers, James A. Carlton and Charles S. Carlton.

He was Vice President of Traffic for Sathers Trucking Company and served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Elks Lodge # 91 and was preceded in death by his parents, E. W. Coulter and Cleo Holbrook Coulter; and a brother, Johnny Coulter. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Coulter; sons, Tim (Patty) Coulter of Yulee, Fla., Jim (Ruth) Coulter of Ringgold, Tim (Lisa) Godwin of Jasper, Tenn., Patrick (Jenna) Godwin of Ooltewah, Tenn., and Greg (Lisa) Godwin of Chattanooga; daughters, Cyndy Wortman of Rossville, Gayle (John) Moore of Chattanooga; brothers, Ervin “Willie” (Virginia) Coulter of Ringgold; sisters, Janice (Wilson) Hix of Jackson, Tenn., Mary Ann (Donnie) Raines of Rock Spring, Karen (Gary) Morgan of Rossville; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service: Saturday, June 2, at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Fletcher Farris officiating. Visitation: Saturday, June 2, from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Brenda Lee Bradley Herrmann Manoogian, 50, Ringgold

Brenda Lee Bradley Herrmann Manoogian of Ringgold died on Friday, May 25, 2012. She was 50.

She was born in Spartanburg, S.C., and was the daughter of the late Walter Bradley and Elizabeth Bradley Muise. She was of the Baptist faith and was the clinical supervisor for Dr. Chandra at Ortho South for the last 16 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Manoogian; son, Terrance (Rhonda) Herrmann of Marrero, La.; daughter, Misti (Nick) Davidson of Rossville; grandchildren, Cody Davidson and Lauren Sisk; step-father, Don Muise of Chattanooga; brother, John (Robin) Bradley of Melbourne, Fla.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sam (Beverly) Manoogian of Granite City, Ill.; brother-in-law, John Manoogian of Granite City, Ill.; several nieces and nephews.

Ronald Earl Tinker, 66, Trenton

Ronald Earl “Ronnie” Tinker of Trenton died Friday, June 1, 2012. He was 66.

He had lived in the north Georgia area for most of his life and was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a draftsman for more than 33 years and was part owner of Steel Detailers International for more than 27 years. He enjoyed fishing and was completely dedicated to his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Irma Tinker, and his wife of more than 45 years, Charlie Mae Roach Tinker.

Survivors include his son, Marcus “Marc” Roland Tinker of Trenton; sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Hershel Hollifield; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Elaine Tinker all of Ringgold; four grandchildren, Matthew Tinker, Katelyn Tinker, Kaylee Walker and Kaci Walker; great-grandson, Daniel Joseph Tinker; business partner, David Henager; devoted friend and caregiver, Ann Hall and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: Monday, June 4 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Kris Taivalkoski, Barry Wallace and Pastor Jake Edgeman officiating. Burial: Woodstation Cemetery. Visitation: Saturday, June 2, after 3 p.m., all day Sunday and prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
