According to Catoosa County Sheriff Phil Summers, the alleged sexual misconduct involves a minor who was living in the home of the bus driver and the incident is not connected to her occupation.
Officers charged Teresa D. Richardson, 33, of 113 Timothy Dr., Ringgold, with one count of aggravated child molestation.
Richardson had been employed by the Catoosa County School System as a bus driver since September 2004.
According to Marissa Chambers, spokesperson for the school system, Richardson was placed on administrative leave Monday, Aug. 8, due to the allegations and fired Aug. 10 after her arrest.
The Catoosa County Sheriffs Department and the Department of Family & Children Services investigated the allegations after a complaint was filed.
According to Summers, the incident occurred during the summer months while the suspect acted as a guardian of the underage victim.
Since the alleged misconduct occurred during the summer months and not on school property the school system will not conduct a separate investigation, Chambers said.
