The LaFayette Rotary Club’s tradition of holding a mock Walker County election just before the actual election continued this year, with two incumbents losing.

Incumbent commissioner Bebe Heiskell lost by one vote to challenger Paul Shaw. Another upset saw incumbent state court judge Bruce Roberts receiving fewer votes than challenger Billy Mullinax.

Other races had incumbents winning easily: Steve Wilson for sheriff, Christy Anderson for probate judge, Sheila Thompson for chief magistrate, Carolyn Walker for tax commissioner, Carter Brown for clerk of court, Charles Wardlaw for surveyor and Jay Neal for state representative.

In the race for county coroner, incumbent Dewayne Wilson was a narrow winner over challenger Don Richie. The races for school soard seats had Karen Stoker and Dale Wilson as winners.

On the TSPLOST question, there were twice as many “No” votes as there were “Yes” votes.

The LaFayette Rotary Club meets every Tuesday at noon in The Bank of LaFayette community center.

Just an observation, but the large majority of Rotary Club members attend LaFayette First Methodist Church with Billy Mullinax and his wife. A mock election was also held at the Bank of LaFayette with Roberts beating Mullinax 2 to 1.

Well let's hope anyway! I really want to see Roberts win it.

This too is an observation, but my husband also won the Lion Club's mock election. Do you happen to know if the majority of the members also go to our church? If so, I would say that both organizations have some Godly men who do not talk about other people and try to hurt others and their families by the remarks. Gahuntr, you have a great day and God bless.
