Wayne Ingle of Heritage High School has been chosen as Catoosa County’s Teacher of the Year.
Ingle has taught in the county for the last 20 years. He taught at Lakeview-Fort Ogle-thorpe High School for 18 years before coming to Heritage High.
Ingle is the English department chairman at Heritage High and is on the Leadership team.
The Georgia Department of Education publishes the criteria for Teacher of the Year. Each county school chooses a school Teacher of the Year and an outside committee judges applications submitted by these teachers based on the state criteria for the title of County Teacher of the Year.
Ingle will also be considered for Georgia Teacher of the year.
Superintendent of schools Denia Reese said she appreciates Ingle’s commitment to stu-dents and dedication to his career.
“I am so proud to recognize (Ingle) as Catoosa County Teacher of the Year,” Reese said. “I have read his application and I am confident that he will represent our county well in the state competition.”
Reese greeted Ingle at his classroom in late October with members of the Heritage Le-gion of Generals Band playing the school’s fight song while students and faculty cheered.
