Walker County Messenger cannot be trusted to get the lead right about Commissioner Heiskell's re-election. Mrs. "Hiz Wife" is in charge now! Better writers need to start looking for new employment right now.

One should probably read today's full version instead of a 10 pm brief.

According to numbers from the elections' board, Commissioner Heiskell captured 70% of the votes cast. Total votes numbered 19,231 with Heiskell winning 13,389 which is 69.58%. Looks like the Messenger should have dug a little deeper before reporting this story. According to the same numbers, Ms. Campbell only beat Heiskell in two of the eleven precincts. Campbell only won LaFayette by 5 votes.

Talk about a mandate!

Looks like the people of Walker County said no to the five man board of commissioners and yes to the solid conservative leadership that continues to make Walker County a leader in Georgia and the southeastern region.

Way to go Walker County!

Congratulations to Commissioner Heiskell!

Wrong, Walker County has not voted for or against a board of commissioners, It wasn't on the ballot. If Ms. Campbell was on the ballot, it would have been interesting. Lot's of people don't understand the write-in process.

The fact that a write in candidate was able to beat her in ANY of the precincts is a clear sign that there is a problem with the current system. Someone who was not even on the ballot managed to score thousands of votes. That's a sad commentary on the uselessness of the current commissioner.

I don't recall Obamacare being voted on by the American people either but the democrats pushed it through congress because it was an issue embodied by their party platform. The American people got Obamacare because they voted for the individuals. The same can be said for Ms. Campbell and Mr. Shaw. Voters knew what these candidates wanted to impose upon Walker County and rejected both candidates.

Again, landslides tell the story of what voters want from the candidates they vote for and it appears the voters of Walker County really want Commissioner Heiskell and appreciate the leadership she has provided the county.

If this early prediction is indeed the end result I hope Bebe takes this election to heart and listen to the voters. This is the first time Bebe has been so aggressive in her campaigning, I believe she was truly worried. A write-in candidate is always a long shot, but Ales had a great showing and shows there is a true need for a change in how our county is governed. I did not vote for Bebe, I did vote for Ales. Lets hope Bebe changes her focus and style over the next 4 years.

Ales says she is not going anywhere. I think if Ales spends the next four years attending commissioner meetings, get to know the budget inside and out, be an active voice at meetings, and gains experience and knowledge of how the county work, she just may be elected next time. She needs to make herself a household name in ALL the county, not just the LaFayette area. Four years to prove you can handle the job and she has my vote in 2016. After all, BeBe will be 77 years old in four years - she may decide to not run in 2016. I know if I was her I would say enough is enough!
