The Stocking Full of Love fundraiser helped distribute toys to 1,823 underprivileged children. The toy give-away was held on Saturday, Dec. 18, at Oakwood Baptist Church in Chickamauga. Stocking Full of Love coordinator Bruce Coker estimates the number of children will increase to over 2,000 as entries that arrived after the Nov. 30 deadline will also be filled. It is the 22nd year for the event, which was started by former sheriff Al Millard in 1989. Approximately 70 volunteers helped parents make Christmas a little brighter for their children on Dec. 18, with nearly $80,000 in toys to choose from.
