A Floyd County man was charged with misdemeanor vehicular homicide on Wednesday in connection with a wreck that killed a pedestrian on Tuesday morning, Oct. 11, according to a warrant at the Floyd County Jail.

According to the warrant:

Robert Christopher Johnson, 50, of 85 Hatfield Road, left the roadway and drove onto the sidewalk on Shorter Avenue, striking Donald Gilreath, 63, who was walking on the sidewalk around 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Johnson told police he dropped his sunglasses and that is why he ran off the road.
