According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:
Brittany Nasha Bruce, 24, of 209 Spruce Street in Rossville was arrested on Monday, Oct. 11, and charged with possession of schedule IV drugs, DUI (drugs), possession of marijuana (less than one ounce), and driving while li-cense suspended following a traffic stop initiated by suspicious driving at approximately 4:58 a.m.
Bruce has been released from jail.
“Suspicious behavior alerted me to the vehicle,” officer Michael Cannon wrote in the report. “The vehicle had a broken windshield and no working tag lights.”
The traffic stop took place at 115 Herron St.
“When I approached the vehicle, I detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle,” Cannon said. “While speaking to the driver (Bruce), I noticed that her eyes were glossy and her speech was slurred. Ms. Bruce then advised me that her license was suspended.”
Field sobriety tests were then administered to Bruce, which she failed.
“When I asked the offender to show me her tongue, I observed that she had a green film coating it,” Cannon said.
When asked if she had anything illegal in her vehicle, Bruce admitted to having her sister’s prescription Clonazepam in her purse, reports show.
“During the inventory of the vehicle, I located a medicine bottle prescribed to another person, as well as a plas-tic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana,” Cannon said. “A small piece of a hand-rolled cigarette containing the believed marijuana was also found, along with eighteen pills believed to be Clonazepam.”
Bruce was then transported to Catoosa County jail without incident.
