A Cedartown woman involved in a fatal car crash May 22 is in the Polk County Jail on vehicular homicide and other traffic charges, according to jail records.

Tia Marie Carter, 34, of 237 Evergreen Lane, Cedartown, was arrested Oct. 12 by Georgia State Patrol (GSP) officers. She is charged with homicide by vehicle, DUI, failure to maintain a single lane and serious injury by vehicle.

She remains in jail without bond.

Two men, Justano Rojoas, 54, and Alonzo Rodriguez, 24, were killed near Branch Road when Carter struck the 2000 Pontiac Sunflower driven by Angel Martinez Jr., 24, also of Cedartown, according to GSP reports.

Rojoas and Rodriguez were passengers in Martinez’ car, reports state. Martinez also suffered injuries in the wreck, according to records.

Initial GSP reports state Carter failed to maintain her lane and crossed over the centerline striking the men’s car. However, the GSP turned the investigation over to the Special Collision Recovery Team (SCRT) for a wreck reconstruction and were waiting on SCRT’s final report before filing charges.
