Charlotte June Posey, 76, Ringgold
Charlotte June Posey of Ringgold died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011. She was 76. She was born in Chattanooga, Tenn. to the late Charles and Callie Steel and had lived in Ohio for about 20 years before moving to north Georgia in 1985. She was of the Baptist faith and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who will be sadly missed by all that knew her. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Posey.
Survivors include her four sons and daughter-in-law, Gregory Posey, Victor and Susan Posey all of Mount Vernon, Ohio, Ron Posey and Chad Posey both of Ringgold; two daughters, Beverly Posey of Ringgold and Karen Posey of Del.; sister, Delores Hooker of LasVegas, Nev.; 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; childhood friend, Betty Worley and three nieces.
Graveside services: Saturday, Nov. 12 at 11:00 a.m. in the Catoosa Memorial Gardens with Bro. Dewayne Renfro officiating. Arthur LeBron “Art” Cain, 77, Ringgold
Arthur LeBron “Art” Cain of Ringgold died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011. He was 77. He was a native and lifelong resident of north Georgia. He was retired from Dupont Company after 40 years of service and was a member of Burning Bush Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Selman Arthur and Eunice Hulsey Cain; and son, Terry L. Cain.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Martha Barnes Cain of Ringgold; grandson, Philip L. Cain, great-granddaughter, Katie E. Kate Wallace Guffey of Chickamauga died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011. She was 88. She was born in Chickamauga to the late Charlie B. And Carrie Birchfield Wyatt Wallace. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Chickamauga. She was a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Lee Guffey, Sr.; grandson, Gary Lee Guffey, Jr.; sister, Gladys West of LaFayette.

Margaret Louise Cope, 93, Fort Oglethorpe
Margaret Louise Cope of Fort Oglethorpe died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011. She was 93. She was a longtime member of Clifton Hill Baptist Church and has been recently attending Cloud Springs Baptist Church. She was born in White County, Tenn. to the late Robert and Luella Cope and was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was a former employee of Sweetwater Carpet where he worked for 8 years and Queen/Shaw Industries for 20 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Napolean and Agnes Corey Scott.

Ethel Thomas “Tommy” Mayes, 89, Rock Spring
Mrs. Ethel Thomas “Tommy” Mayes, formerly of Dahlonega died Nov. 1, 2011 from a long time illness. She was 89. She was born in Danville, Ky. Sept. 23, 1922. Her lifetime work was wife, mother and homemaker. She was a talented seamstress. She supported Dahlonega’s Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce at her husband’s side. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Stephen and mary Louise Soper Gilbert. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Kenneth Guy Mayes.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Arthur and Diane White Mayes of Chickamauga; and daughter and son-in-law, Tomi and Philip Cambron of Dahlonega; granchildren, Tracy and Todd Bruce of Columbus, Shelby Cambron of Idaho Fallis, Idaho, and fiance Katie Gregory; Marc and Paige Mayes of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Guy and Jessica Cambron of Dahlonega; great grandchildren, Katherine, Mackenzie and Peyton Cambron, Kati and Alli Bruce, and Olivia and Sawyer Mayes. She will be sorely missed.

Jordan Douglas Queen of LaFayette died Wednesday. Nov. 9, 2011, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a lifelong resident of North Georgia and was a member of Peavine Baptist Church where he had been in the Awana and Upward sports program. He was a Junior at Gordon Lee High School and a member of the Wrestling Team. He was recently employed with North Georgia Eye Care in Dr. Eric Helwig's office. He loved being with his family and friends and was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald Eugene Flippo.

Charles Elijah Floyd Jr. of Flintstone died Monday, Nov. 6, 2011 at his home. He was 72.
He was a well-known businessman, loving husband, father and pawpaw. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was in the restaurant business for 38 years, owning and operating Charlie’s Restaurant, Faye’s Quick Lunch and Hungry Hollow Restaurant, and he also owned and operated Charlie’s Food Market for 35 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Floyd Sr. and Pauline Lindsey Floyd Morgan and stepfather, George Oliver Morgan; siblings, Shirley Mae Floyd Bailey, William Eugene Floyd, James Lamar Morgan and Richard Ralph Blessings, and grandparents, Pearl and Joe Lindsey.

Stephanie Christina Broom, 26, East Ridge
Stephanie Christina Broom of East Ridge died on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011. She was 26.
She graduated from East Ridge High School in 2003 and then graduated from Northwest Georgia Technical College. She was of the Baptist faith and was a loving mother, daughter, granddaughter, niece and friend. She loved animals and enjoyed working with the Humane Society.

Joyce Holcomb Williams, 60, Flintstone
Joyce Holcomb Williams Flintstone died Saturday Nov. 5, 2011 in a local health care facility. She was 60.
She was born in Chattanooga on Dec. 26, 1950, a daughter of the late Columbus Gardner and Lucille Tucker Holcomb.
She was of the Baptist faith and was a 1968 graduate of Kirkman High School. She married her husband on June 21, 1969. She worked for Rossville Police Department from Aug. 1984 until Jan. 1989. She then went to work for the Catoosa County Sheriffs Department from Jan. 1989 until Sept. 2011. She answered the first 911 call for Catoosa County and then became the 911 administrator from Sept. 2002 until her retirement in Sept. 2011.
She was also preceded in death by her sister Phyllis Holcomb and a cousin Gloria Sherrill.
Survivors include her loving husband, Larry Williams; children, Kelly and Gayla Williams of Ringgold and Jeffrey and Erica Williams of Flintstone; five grandchildren, Phillip, Garrett, Nathan, Justin and Blake; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Kerry Parker of Rockwood, Tenn.; brother and sister-in-law, Rickey and Sherrie Holcomb of Chickamauga; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was previously employed with Vassey’s Men’s Store as a seamstress for more than 40 years and was completely devoted to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmothers, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, several brothers and sisters, two sons and three daughters.

Rhonda Faye Miller of Rossville died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011. She was 54.
She had lived in the north Georgia area for most of her life and was a member of South Rossville Baptist Church. She loved animals and was a devoted mother who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Betty Green, and brother, George Franklin Green.
Survivors include her son, David Miller; brother, Charles Green, both of Rossville and two nieces.

Rev. Leon Hall of LaFayette died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011. He was 75.
He retired after twenty-seven years from the Roper Corp. in LaFayette. He was ordained on April 24, 1963 where after he pastored several churches through the year: Calvary Baptist Church in Chicago, Wayside Baptist Church in Summerville, Ridgeway Baptist Church in LaFayette, Calvary Baptist in LaFayette, Sunnyside Baptist Church in LaFayette, Belmont Baptist Church in Summerville and Hall Memorial Baptist Church in Calhoun.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bramlett P. Hall and Mary Lou Gaton Hall, and sister, Linda Blansit.

Jimmy Darrell Williams of Ringgold died on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011. He was 74.
He was a lifelong resident of the north Georgia area and was of the Baptist faith. He had served six years in the Army National Guard, was previously employed with S and H Erectors for more than 10 years and was a member of the Local Carpenters Union #74 in Chattanooga.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Marjorie Williams; wife, Jackie Colyene Fann Williams, and brother, Charles Williams.

Zella Jane McLemore Paradise of Rossville died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011.
She was born in Scottsboro, Ala., and had lived in the Chattanooga and north Georgia areas for most of her life and was of the Church of God faith. She was previously employed with Parkwood Nursing Home as a CNA for many years and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Paradise; son, Larry Paradise, and sister, Sue Wilds.

He was born Feb. 7, 1943 to the late Jess W. and Florence Hatfield Peardon in Chattanooga. He was a welder working for Burner Systems International for 25 years and he enjoyed fishing, baling hay and working on old cars.

Frances Lucille Fouts Bailey of Chickamauga died Oct. 31, 2011. She was 88.
She was a lifelong resident of Chickamauga and was a member of Wallaceville Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Chickamauga Senior Center and was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Bailey; daughter, Lillie Mae Cline, and parents, James and Bessie Mae Tucker Fouts.

Andrew G. Meadows, 34, Rossville
Andrew G. Meadows of Rossville died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was 34.
He was a graduate of the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School class of 1995. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church where he was a member of the couples Sunday school class and was an ordained deacon. He had been employed with Memorial Hospital for the past 14 years as a surgical assistant.

Sunday night when Andrew drifted to sleep, he was dying of cancer. Monday morning, he awoke in the glorious presence of the Lord, more alive than ever before. Cancer is an excruciatingly cruel disease, but by God’s grace his yearlong battle ended at home with his loving family by his side.
“Though we naturally grieve at losing loved ones, we are not to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope.” (1 Thess. 4: 13) Our parting is not the end of our relationship, only an interruption. We haven’t lost them.

James Donald “Don” Simmons of LaFayette died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011. He was 63.
Don retired from law enforcement after 28 years, during which he served as the chief of police for the city of LaFayette. He also served as chief deputy for the Walker County sheriff’s department. He was a Navy veteran, serving two terms in Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irey Simmons, and Mary Ruth Ware Simmons; brother, Larry Simmons; sister, Mary Ann Lindsey, and brother, Calvin Simmons.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Brewster, and father, Tom Warnock.

Inez June Willis Tippins of Ringgold died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011. She was 84.
She was born in Selmer, Tenn., on July 28, 1927 to the late Lacy T. and Maggie Dickey Willis. She was a devoted member of Boynton United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Wesley Sunday school class and served as chief hostess for the church. She worked as a math teacher for Walker and Catoosa county schools with 30 years of service. She held a bachelors of science degree in education with a major in mathematics. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Joe Willis.

Daniel Anderson “Andy” Coffman of Ringgold died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011. He was 46.
He had an A.S. degree in business and office management and worked for Guardsmark, Inc., and for 18 years at McKee Foods as a security supervisor. He was an avid Nascar fan, lifelong Alabama fan – “Roll Tide,” loved paintball, fishing, magic and making balloon animals with his daughter, and at one time he was a firefighter at the Post Volunteer Fire department in Fort Oglethorpe.
He was preceded in death by his father, Danny Coffman.

He was employed by Walmart in Fort Oglethorpe for the past eleven years and was a member of the Painters Local #226. He was a loving father and friend. He was preceded in death by his father, G.W. She enjoyed sewing, making her own clothes, and flower gardening. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, James Charles Hawkins Sr., and parents, William and Bertha Ingraham.

Owen Gray Williamson of Winona, Mo., died at 1:12 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 at his home. He was 75.
He was born May 30, 1936, in Anniston, Ala., to Ullman and Geneva Owens Williamson. He grew up in Anniston, Ala., and was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. After his military service, he resided in Illinois and Georgia and later moved to Missouri. Before his retirement, he was employed as shipping manager for Crystal Springs Textiles in Chickamauga. He was of the Baptist faith. He will be greatly missed by his friends, relatives and especially his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Carol F. Williamson and Ruby L. Williamson; one brother and one sister.
Survivors include his six children, Diane Hanson and Scott Killpack of Winona, Mo., Terrie Gideon of LaFayette, Tammy Smith and husband, Robert Harrison of Tennessee, Tina Thornton of Bourbonnais, Ill., Karen Harris of Rossville and David Williamson of Chickamauga; eighteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Charlotte June Posey, 76, Ringgold
Charlotte June Posey of Ringgold died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011. She was 76. She was born in Chattanooga, Tenn. to the late Charles and Callie Steel and had lived in Ohio for about 20 years before moving to north Georgia in 1985. She was of the Baptist faith and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who will be sadly missed by all that knew her. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Posey.
Survivors include her four sons and daughter-in-law, Gregory Posey, Victor and Susan Posey all of Mount Vernon, Ohio, Ron Posey and Chad Posey both of Ringgold; two daughters, Beverly Posey of Ringgold and Karen Posey of Del.; sister, Delores Hooker of LasVegas, Nev.; 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; childhood friend, Betty Worley and three nieces.

Arthur LeBron, “Art” Cain, 77, Ringgold
Arthur LeBron “Art” Cain of Ringgold died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011. He was 77. He was a native and lifelong resident of north Georgia. He was retired from Dupont Company after 40 years of service and was a member of Burning Bush Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Selman Arthur and Eunice Hulsey Cain; and son, Terry L. Cain.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Martha Barnes Cain of Ringgold; grandson, Philip L. Cain, great-granddaughter, Katie E. Cain, both of LaFayette; brother, Marion F. “Doc” (Carol) Cain; nephew, Gregory (Krista) Cain of Orlando, Fla.; one great niece, Kristie, and one great nephew, Michael; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Cain of LaFayette; step-great-grandson, Joe Stewart; five step-great-grandchildren;

Kate Wallace Guffey of Chickamauga died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011. She was 88. She was born in Chickamauga to the late Charlie B. And Carrie Birchfield Wyatt Wallace. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Chickamauga. She was a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Lee Guffey, Sr.; grandson, Gary Lee Guffey, Jr.; sister, Gladys West of LaFayette.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Gary Lee Guffey, Sandra and J.W. Parrish, Curtis Lee Guffey, Jr. and Teresea Guffey, Suzy Shipley, all of Chickamauga; sisters, Florence Powell, Fannie Watts and Jane Wallace, all of Chickamauga; grandchildren, Jason and Dee Parrish, Paige and Bob Riese, Jeff Guffey, Jason and Julie Chapman; great-grandchildren, Jenna, Kaitlee and Ryan Riese; several nieces and nephews.

Margaret Louise Cope, 93, Fort Oglethorpe
Margaret Louise Cope of Fort Oglethorpe died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011. She was 93. She was a longtime member of Clifton Hill Baptist Church and has been recently attending Cloud Springs Baptist Church. She was born in White County, Tenn. to the late Robert and Luella Cope and was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews and friends.

Marvin “Bud” Edwin Scott, 76, Ringgold
Marvin “Bud” Edwin Scott of Ringgold died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011. He was 76. He was a lifelong resident of the north Georgia area, he attended Simpson United Methodist Church. He was a former employee of Sweetwater Carpet where he worked for 8 years and Queen/Shaw Industries for 20 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Napolean and Agnes Corey Scott.
Survivors include his loving wife, Wilma Dickson Scott of Ringgold; four children, Daniel Edwin Scott (Gail) of West End, N.C., Gary Michael Scott (Tina) of Austell, Gregory Wayne Scott (Christie) of Ringgold, and David Eugen Scott (Kristin) of Soddy Daisy, Tenn; step-daughter, Paula Annette Wells of Red Bank, Tenn.; three sisters, Jackie Nelson of Chattanooga, Tenn., Sammie Hampton of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Pat Moore of Kingston, Tenn.; brother, Wayne Scott (Yvonne) of Chickamauga; 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Ethel Thomas “Tommy” Mayes, 89, Rock Springs
Mrs. Ethel Thomas “Tommy” Mayes, formerly of Dahlonega died Nov. 1, 2011 from a long time illness. She was 89. She was born in Danville, Ky. Sept. 23, 1922. Her lifetime work was wife, mother and homemaker. She was a talented seamstress. She supported Dahlonega’s Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce at her husband’s side. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Stephen and mary Louise Soper Gilbert. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Kenneth Guy Mayes.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Arthur and Diane White Mayes of Chickamauga; and daughter and son-in-law, Tomi and Philip Cambron of Dahlonega; granchildren, Tracy and Todd Bruce of Columbus, Shelby Cambron of Idaho Fallis, Idaho, and fiance Katie Gregory; Marc and Paige Mayes of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Guy and Jessica Cambron of Dahlonega; great grandchildren, Katherine, Mackenzie and Peyton Cambron, Kati and Alli Bruce, and Olivia and Sawyer Mayes. She will be sorely missed.

Jordan Douglas Queen, 17, LaFayette
Jordan Douglas Queen of LaFayette died Wednesday. Nov. 9, 2011, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a lifelong resident of North Georgia and was a member of Peavine Baptist Church where he had been in the Awana and Upward sports program. He was a Junior at Gordon Lee High School and a member of the Wrestling Team. He was recently employed with North Georgia Eye Care in Dr. Eric Helwig's office. He loved being with his family and friends and was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald Eugene Flippo.
Survivors include his parents, Gerald and Suzanne Queen of LaFayette; brother, Braden Queen of LaFayette; maternal grandmother, Doris Flippo of Summerville; paternal grandparents, Larry D. Queen and Martha Queen of LaFayette; uncles, Brian Flippo, (SaraBeth Bender) of Summerville, Travis (Shelly) Queen of LaFayette; cousins, Clayton and Kailee Queen, LaFayette.
