Schools in the Walker County and Catoosa County systems will delay the start of classes by two hours on Tuesday, Nov. 29, due to flooding.

Meanwhile, schools in the Chickamauga system will begin late -- at 9:30 a.m.

The two-day deluge of rain that began early on Sunday, Nov. 27, has lead to flooding conditions throughout the region.

Several other school systems have also delayed their start, including neighboring Chattooga County.

The National Weather Service lists Walker and Catoosa counties as being under a flood watch and that the overnight conditions could change into a rain/snow shower as temperatures will be hovering around 35 degrees.

Walker County crews have contended with areas of flash flooding, placing signs in a few areas, according to David Ashburn. No roads have been completely closed as of yet.

Concerns for Tuesday are due to the bigger creeks cresting their banks and causing actual flooding, according to Ashburn.
