The fraternal order of police Baxter Shaver Lodge #99 in Tunnel Hill is hosting a shooting competition June 30 at the Catoosa volunteer training site at 43 Pistol Range Road. Competition is open to any certified law enforcement officer who is active or retired and in good standing in the state where they work.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and an award ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. after the competition. Three courses will be offered as well as lunch. Participants may choose either one course for $10 or all three courses plus lunch for $25.

Proceeds from this event will support the 2012 Cops with Kids Christmas shopping event. Each year, the lodge allows underprivileged children and their families to shop with an officer at the local Wal-Mart and allows each child an allotted amount to spend on clothes, toys and other items.
