The 6-year-old sanctioned tournament was held in Whitfield County last week with the Hobgood Heat defeating Acworth Orange for the championship. Two local teams took part in the event. The Boynton Generals went 1-2 while the Ringgold Tigers finished 0-2.
In the 6-year-old invitational tournament in Gordon County, Southwest Baseball made a run through the losers' bracket to eventually calm the Hobgood Storm in the title game. LaFayette went 2-2 in the tournament while Chickamauga went 0-2.
The 9-year-old sanctioned tournament was held in Canton with the Buckhead Braves beating NYO for the crown. No local teams participated in the tournament. No local teams played in the 9-year-old invitational tournament in Acworth, which wraps up play tonight.
Rock Spring hosted the 11-year-old sanctioned tournament last week, which saw Winston defeat Rome Doubleday for the title. Rock Spring and Boynton were both eliminated with two straight losses.
Rock Spring also played host to the 11-year-old invitational tournament, which saw Eastside beat the SCRA Reds in the finals. No local teams participated in the tournament.
And in Jefferson, Kennesaw beat NYO for the 14-year-old sanctioned tournament title. No local teams participated in the tournament.
The 7-year-old sanctioned tournament begins this weekend in Canton while the invitational tourmament for the 7-year-olds starts Friday in Chickamauga.
Local teams participating in the sanctioned tournament include the Boynton Bandits, the Boynton Jackets, LaFayette, and Ringgold. The Bandits will face LaFayette in the opener on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. The Jackets will square off with Midway at 9 a.m. on Saturday, and Ringgold will battle the Rome Rivercats at 10:30 Saturday morning.
Chickamauga will open play in the invitational tournament at 9 p.m. Friday against Bartow County Blue.
Ringgold is the lone local team participating in the 8-year-old sanctioned tournament in Valdosta. They were scheduled to open play at 2 p.m. today (Thursday, July 5) against the Canton Stingers.
The 8-year-old invitational tournament begins play tonight in Rock Spring with four local teams in action. LaFayette will face the Hobgood Storm at 6 p.m., followed at 7:30 when Ringgold squares off with SCRA. Rock Spring will also play at 7:30 against the Macedonia Mustangs, while Chickamauga will do battle with Bremen at 9 p.m.
The Rossville Reds open the 10-year-old sanctioned tournament in Valdosta at 4 p.m. this afternoon against the Canton Stingers. Boynton will also play at 4 as they take on Union County.
The invitational tourmnament for the 10-year-olds will be played in Canton, but no local teams are participating.
The 12-year-old sanctioned tournament in Sandy Spring will see the Boynton Bulls open against the Kennesaw Generals at 6 p.m. on Friday. The 12-year-old invitational tourmnament will be held in Whitfield County, but no local teams will be participating.
The 13-year-old tournament will be held in Jefferson, but with no local teams taking part.
The Senior Division tournament will again be held in Boynton starting on Friday. The Boynton Storm and Boynton Bulldogs will face off at 6 p.m., while the North Georgia Chiefs will take on the Shaw Park Colt 45's at 8:30.
