COMMUNITY · An antique typewriter exhibit is ongoing at Chattooga Academy in LaFayette. The exhibit features Royal, Underwood and Smith typewriters, as well as Imperial and Smith-Corona typewriters. An Oliver No. 9 is also on display. The typewriters were manufactured approximately from between 1915-1950. A volunteer will be on-hand to assist visitors with the exhibit on Sundays from 1-3 p.m. Chattooga Academy is open from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. most days Monday through Friday. ENTERTAINMENT · Tickets to attend Lauren Alaina's October concert at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center in Dalton go on sale at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 14. ENTERTAINMENT · LaFayette Downtown Development Authority is hosting its first free “Movie in the Park Night” on Saturday, July 14, at Joe Stock Memorial Park. The movie, "The Mysterious Island," which is planned as the first in a series of family-friendly films to be shown in downtown LaFayette, will begin at approximately 9 p.m. The park is at the intersection of Wardlaw Street and North Main Street. COMMUNITY · Camp New Dawn located in McClemore Cove is taking registrations for summer camp: Civil War camp is from July 15-20. Cost is $250 per individual. New this year is family camp: maximum $700. Day camp is $130. For kids entering grades 4 and up. Designed to let campers experience history up close and personal.

COMMUNITY · “Civil War Hospitals and Medicine” will be the topic of a display and series of talks on Sundays during July at the Catoosa County Library. RELIGIOUS · Chattooga Baptist Church will host "Amazing Wonders Aviation" vacation bible school Sunday, July 15 through Friday July 20 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. A meal will be served at 5:45 p.m. to children age 18 and younger Monday through Thursday. Friday night commencement will be held followed by family fun time at the fellowship hall. Class ages are preschool through teens. ENTERTAINMENT · The Chattanooga Film Society (CFS) and the Mise En Scenesters (MES) are pleased to announce their collaboration in presenting the POV Summer Film Series from June through September. On July 16, the series continues with, “I’m Carolyn Parker: The Good, the Mad, and the Beautiful.” What begins as a historical documentary about Hurricane Katrina morphs into a vibrant character study of Carolyn Parker. The film documents the courage and resiliency of this fearless matriarch and civil-rights activist. The film will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 16, at the downtown Chattanooga YMCA on 301 West 6th Street.

EDUCATION · The regular monthly meetings of the Walker County Board of Education will be held on the third Monday of each month, with the exception of the January, February, November and December meetings in 2012. COMMUNITY · Auditions for “Cabaret,” the opening show for the 2012-2013 season of the Chattanooga Theatre Centre, will be held Monday, July 16, and Tuesday, July 17, at the Theatre Centre on the NorthShore, 400 River Street, in Chattanooga.
