A LaFayette man was arrested on a shoplifting charge for allegedly stealing two 12-packs of beer from the Dollar General Market on Battlefield Parkway.

According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:

Jeremiah Nathaniel Weed, 34, of Mount Carmel Lane in LaFayette was arrested Thursday, July 12, and charged with shoplifting stemming from an incident two days earlier. His bond was set at $5,870.

On Tuesday, July 10, about 7:52 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Dollar General Market at 540 Ga. 2 (Battlefield Parkway), where officers met with store management regarding the incident.

“The store’s food manager stated that he observed the offender enter the store, walk to the restroom, and then to where the Bud Light beer was displayed,” officer Perry Neal wrote in the report. “He stated that the offender then removed two twelve packs of Bud Light and exited the store without paying.”

Weed was seen leaving the parking lot in a silver-colored vehicle.

A store employee was able to take a cell phone picture of the vehicle leaving, which clarified the vehicle to be a 1979 Buick Electra, reports show.

The tag number of the vehicle was also obtained.

Weed was located and arrested two days later with additional charges.

Jail reports show that Weed faces three separate charges of shoplifting, as well as charges of having an open container of alcohol and driving on a suspended license.
