The 11-and-under Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors are on a roll.

The Red-and-White, led by head coach Shawn Crawford and assistants

Shawn Wilson, Billy Goldsmith and Mike Wooden, won the two World Series they hosted in Fort Oglethorpe.

The Warriors, who also won the BPA Tennessee State Championship, won

the 11-and-under Rick Honeycutt World Series and the 12-and-under Rick Honeycutt World Series to extend their winning streak to 17-0 for the month of July.

Crawford said last year his team’s biggest accomplishment was winning the 10-year-old Dizzy Dean state Tournament.

This week the Warriors will attempt to win a third world series in the Grand Slam tournament held in Panama City, Fla.

The Warriors overall record heading into the event is 37-6 overall.

"I'm very proud of them," Crawford said. "They've worked hard together

all summer. We started out a little slow this year...but this is a real good group of kids. They work hard."

Crawford said one of the reasons his team has been so successful is

because they've had good support in the stands.

"We've had an awesome group of parents that are always there to help, and that's what it takes...there's never any conflict. They trust what the coaches are doing."

Crawford said coming into the season his kids "weren't very hungry" and he questioned what the outcome would be. He said good coaching and hard work has come a long way.

"There was a couple weeks into this season it was like you couldn’t throw a hat out into the wind and that's when we took some bumps and bruises," he said. "We decided as coaches we were going to take a week off, and that's when we took a week off and really worked them hard. From that point on we've turned it on."

The Warriors began pool play on Monday in Panama City, where they won two games in the 12-under divison. They defeated the PCB Marlins, 9-2, and and Texas Saints, 4-3.
