A Chattanooga, Tenn., physician has been fired from his practice after being arrested over the weekend in an undercover FBI sting in which he allegedly traveled to Rossville to have sex with a minor child.

Vikul Vindobhai Patel, 35, was suspended from Nephrology Associates in Chattanooga on Monday, according to the office’s website, and was terminated from all patient care.

Following a special called board meeting Wednesday morning, Patel was fired from the practice.

All of Patel’s current patients will be reassigned to other physicians within the group of 15.

Patel, a doctor of internal medicine, was arrested on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 2 in Rossville after authorities say he engaged in “chats” with undercover agents expressing his desire to have sex with a minor child, and was then met by officers when he arrived at the designated meeting place.
