To borrow a line from Lauren Alaina, “Ain’t nothing sweeter than Georgia Peaches.”

This nine-week old tiger tortie is aptly named “Peaches,” and she’s a sweetie. She’s also extremely loving, curious like all kitties, but laid back.

When she looks into your eyes, you’re sure she’s looking deep into your soul.

Peaches had the good fortune to wander up to the home of a Good Samaritan who delivered her into the caring hands of Alison Smith and her team at the Walker County Animal Shelter. She’s there now waiting for someone to take her home. If you visit the shelter, most likely you’ll hear her purr before you see her. She’s another one of those kitties with the volume turned all the way up on her purr.

Be prepared, however, to be smitten when you see her. She’s a striking combination of tiger and tortoise shell — tiger stripes with the coloration of a tortie, patches of orange, chocolate and black, but in this case, the orange is diluted to a soft peach color.

Peaches’ adoption fee is $15. Hours for the shelter are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The shelter is at 5488 Marble Top Road. The phone number is 706-375-2100.

Dr. Albert Schweitzer, theologian, philosopher, physician and Nobel Peace Prize winner said, “There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats.”

Good advice for all of us. Refuge from the daily grind through music and a cat. You probably already have the music; just turn on your radio or CD player, and I know right where to find a perfect cat...5488 Marble Top Road.

Ann Malone is a pet photographer and can't remember a time she did not have pets in her life. Today she has three dogs, three cats and one parrot. She can be reached at annmh@live.com.
