The Gordon Lee Middle School Trojans were awarded a safety with 5:59 remaining in the game, and those two points proved to be the difference as the Navy-and-White held on for a 16-14 win at Chattanooga Valley on Thursday in North Georgia Athletic Conference football action.

The win came just three days after the Trojans lost a 20-14, double-overtime battle with Dade County.

Drew Cobb, who missed Monday's game due to an illness, scored on touchdown runs of seven and 10 yards for Gordon Lee in the first half.

Tyler Cutts had a seven-yard second-quarter TD run for the Eagles, while Blaine Phillips hit Ivy Boehm on a 57-yard scoring strike with just three seconds left in the first half to knot the game, 14-14, at intermission.

The safety came after the Eagles fell on the ball in the own end zone following a bad snap deep in their own territory.

Gordon Lee moved to 1-3 with the win, while Chattanooga Valley fell to 2-2.

In other NGAC action from Thursday, Rossville moved to 4-0 with a 38-6 home win over Lakeview (1-3), and LaFayette (1-3) picked up its first victory with a 56-12 pasting of Dade County (1-4).

Check back on Friday for more details from these games or pick up the Oct. 10 edition of the Walker County Messenger.
