A 68-year-old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 7, after he admitted to molesting a female Catoosa County child more than 30 times during a three-year period, police say.

According to the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office:

Billy Joe Garrison of Hyder Ridge Road in Crossville, Tenn., was arrested on charges of aggravated sexual battery and two counts of child molestation. He remained Friday in the Catoosa County jail with no bond set.

The child recently confided to her parents that the she had been molested by Garrison, at which time the parents filed the formal complaint with the sheriff's office, reports show.

During an interview with the girl on Tuesday, Nov. 6, she told detectives that the alleged abuse had occurred over the course of a 2-3 year span from 2009 through late October 2012.

The next day, Garrison was interviewed by detectives and admitted that he molested the child 20-40 times in Catoosa County, in addition to 10-20 times at his residence in Crossville, Tenn.
