According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:
Ravi Kumar Chauhan, 27, of Sumit Road in Jersey City, N.J., was arrested on Saturday, Nov. 10, on charges of DUI, failure to maintain lane, and driving while unlicensed.
Chauhan remained in Catoosa County jail with bond set at $4,050, but is not eligible to released at this time due to a hold being placed on him by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Chauhan was pulled over shortly after 3 a.m. after he was observed weaving in and out of his lane, reports show.
“After conducting a traffic stop at Battlefield Parkway and Johnson Road, I spoke with the offender, who advised me that he did not have his license on him,” officer Greg Cross said. “I had dispatch check his information and was advised that he did not come back on file. While speaking with him, I noticed his eyes were bloodshot and I could also smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle.”
Chauhan admitted to having “two drinks” prior to being pulled over, reports show.
Chauhan then failed multiple field sobriety tests that he was given.
“During the one-leg-stand test, he jumped around trying to keep his balance,” Cross said.
Chauhan was transported to Catoosa County jail without incident and is currently being held pending an investigation by the ICE.
