The Georgia Northwestern Bobcats and Lady Bobcats had little trouble dispatching the junior varsity squads from nearby Covenant College on Wednesday night.

In Rome, the Lady Bobcats moved back to 5-5 overall with an 81-47 victory.

Freshman Alyssa Nichelson led the way in the non-region win with 19 points, while the Lady Cats came up 11 steals and forced four shot clock violations against the Scots.

Another freshman, Sierra Smith, went 6 of 10 from behind the arc to finish with 18 points, while freshman Odessa Person picked up 15 rebounds. Another rookie, point guard Kiarra Parks, would add eight points and nine assists.

GNTC will play at home on Friday afternoon when Southern Union (Ala.) rolls into town for a 2 p.m. tip-off. Person will be going up against her cousin, Southern Union forward Eisha Person. Both are also related to former Auburn and NBA sharpshooter, Chuck Person.

Meanwhile in Rossville, the Bobcats jumped on the JV Scots early and often in turning in arguably thir best performance of the year in a 79-57 blowout win.

Freshman Hunter Ivester went 8 of 11 from the field, scored eight of his team's first 11 points and finished with a game-high 21 points in the rout. Freshman guards Quinton Cotton, Richard Olsen and Tavish Reynolds would add, 13, 12 and 10, respectively.

The Cats would increase a 16-point halftime lead into a 30-point cushion at one point in the second half. GNTC (4-5) also improved at the free throw line, making 10 of 14.

GNTC will head to Knoxville, Tenn. on Friday for a rematch with Johnson University. The Cats edged Johnson by two points in overtime in a recent meeting in Rossville.

Both GNTC teams are also gearing up for their Toy Drive games on Dec. 11. Both games against Mid-South College will take place at the Rossville Athletic Complex. The Lady Cats tip-off at 6 p.m. with the Bobcats' game immediately following. Fans will get one free ticket with each new toy donated at the door. All donations will go the Stocking Full of Love Toy Drive in North Georgia.
