Whether a classic literature fan or a shopping fan, guests are invited to a birthday celebration for famed authors Emily Dickinson and Jane Austen. Kim Correll, owner of Mizz Kim's Creations in downtown Ringgold, said both ladies have birthdays this month and she wanted to do something special to honor them.

"I love these women" Correll said about the famous writers.” I thought it would be fun to celebrate them and hopefully enlighten some people about who they were and what they contributed to the world."

Dickinson, who rose to fame in the late 1800s, is a widely acclaimed American poet from Massachusetts. English novelist Jane Austen, born in 1775, is hugely remembered for penning several classics, including "Sense and Sensibility" and "Pride and Prejudice."

Correll is tipping her hat to Dickinson Dec. 11-15 by serving coconut cake to guests, using the author's personal recipe. Dec. 18-22, Correll said she will be airing Jane Austen movies all week in the shop. She has also created a unique lotion for each author.

Mizz Kim's Creations is on 29 Maple Street in downtown Ringgold. For more information: go to mizzkim.net or call 423-521-0292.
