The Gordon Lee Middle School basketball teams went on the road and won a pair of defensive struggles at Heritage on Tuesday.

In the opener, the Lady Trojans (7-1 overall, 6-1 in NGAC) trailed 30-23 midway through the fourth quarter, but used a decisive 13-2 run to end the game.

Six straight points cut the Lady Generals' lead to 30-29, but a lay-up by Tori Harvey pushed the Heritage back to three points. However, Molly Thomison hit two straight buckets, with assists by Mary Kate Pritchett and Lexie Clark, to give Gordon Lee its first lead of the game with just under a minute to play.

Heritage turned the ball back over to the Lady Trojans on the inbound pass and Gordon Lee was able to run all but 6.5 seconds off the clock before Heritage was forced to foul Sarah Meadows.

Meadows made both free throws to give GLMS a 35-32 lead, and following another Heritage turnover, Meadows iced the game with one more free throw with 1.5 seconds to play.

She finished with 12 points in the win, while Pritchett added 10. Rachel Thomas led Heritage (6-2 in NGAC) with 13 points, while Harvey finished with nine.

The boys' game saw the Trojans (7-1, 6-1) claim a 32-25 victory, handing the Generals just their second loss of the season. No other details about the game were available as of press time.

Gordon Lee will play at Rossville on Thursday, starting with the girls' varsity game at 4:30 p.m. On Friday, both the junior varsity and varsity squads will host LaFayette. The first junior varsity game will get under way at 4 p.m.
