According the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:
Savannah Mae Fuller, 17, of Ronnie Lane in Tunnel Hill, Ga., was arrested on Sunday, Dec. 16, on a charge of possession of marijuana less than one-ounce.
Fuller has been released from jail on bond.
The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. when an employee of the Mapco Mart at 3668 Ga. 2 (Battlefield Parkway) informed police of two suspicious people hanging out in the store's parking lot.
"While out conducting a business check, I was advised by the clerk that a white car had been parked on the lot for a lengthy period of time and that a male subject had entered the store acting very suspicious," officer Michael Cannon said. "I walked over to the listed vehicle to check on the two subjects, and when I approached the vehicle, I detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle."
A clear plastic bag containing marijuana was located in the front driver's side floorboard during questioning of the duo, reports show.
"The male subject stated that he had been contacted by Fuller and asked to hang out," Cannon said. "He stated that when he picked her up, she advised that she had marijuana and wanted to smoke it. He added that they arrived at the store to purchase a 'blunt' wrapper to smoke the marijuana."
Fuller explained that she had purchased the marijuana in Red Bank, Tenn., and that she brought it back to Ringgold, Ga., where she met up with the male subject, reports show.
"She (Fuller) advised that they were preparing to roll the 'blunt' when I walked up," Cannon said. "She stated the marijuana did belong to her, and she was placed under arrest. The male subject was released to a licensed driver due to his possible previous use of marijuana earlier in the night."
Fuller was transported to Catoosa County jail without incident, and the marijuana was recorded as evidence.
