A Flintstone house was significantly damaged by a fire Friday morning, Dec. 28.

According to Walker County Emergency Services:

A 911 call reported the blaze shortly after 6 a.m. at 756 Chattanooga Valley Road, according to Lt. Scott Forrest with WCES fire marshall’s office.

No one was at the single-story house (built in 1902) when the fire occurred. The 74-year-old owner of the residence, Robert Jackson, was staying with his daughter.

The home had not been lived in recently, with family periodically checking on the property.

The exact origin of the fire has not been determined. Heating sources did not cause the ignition, according to Forrest.

The fire appears to have started in the bathroom area of the home. The blaze consumed between 50-75 percent of the structure, and may be ruled a total loss by insurance investigators.

First responders from five stations (Chattanooga Valley, High Point, Fairview, Rock Spring and Walker State Prison) responded to the scene.

Crews remained at the scene until 10:30 a.m.
