A Rossville teen was arrested on a shoplifting charge on Christmas Eve, while two accomplices fled the scene.

According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:

Austin Ryan Taylor, 18, of Mohawk Street in Rossville, Ga., was arrested on Monday, Dec. 24, on one count of shoplifting, and has since been released from jail on bond.

The incident occurred at the Wal-Mart at 3040 Ga. 2 (Battlefield Parkway) just before 8 p.m.

Store employees told police that they witnessed Taylor take a movie while with two other offenders and leave the store with it.

The trio passed all points of sale and were confronted in the parking lot, at which time the movie was thrown out into the parking lot.

While Taylor stayed with the store’s loss prevention staff, the two other suspects fled the scene on foot, reports show.

Taylor cooperated with loss prevention and police in giving the names and descriptions of the other two offenders, and was then transported to Catoosa County jail without incident.

Looks like this guy either got bailed out of jail, and then put his impeccable writing skills to good use, or his family is taking up for him.

I love it when people get mad at the reporters on here, and wouldn't you know it...it's always on the crime stories.

If you read the story, it says "According to the police."

The reporters don't create scenarios of dumb crimes that could have happened, and then post a story about them out of thin air. Police provide information and those details are then relayed in an article.

If this knucklehead is innocent, then why was he stopped out of the thousands of people who visit Wal-Mart on a daily basis? Why was he charged? And why is there a mugshot of him?

I'm pretty sure the reporters don't pick a name out of the phone book to write about.

Stay classy LostDreams. And don't hate...you should be proud of your relative. He did make the news after all, right?
