An Indiana man was arrested for DUI in Fort Oglethorpe on Sunday, Jan. 6, after he admitted to smoking marijuana and consuming alcohol while underage, police said.

According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:

Ryan Thomas Young, 20, of South Bend, Ind., was arrested on Jan. 6 on charges of DUI (multiple substances) and underage consumption. He has been released from jail on bond.

Officers were made aware of Young's state after receiving a call to be on the lookout for a possible intoxicated driver.

Young was spotted travelling south along LaFayette Road at Battlefield Parkway around 3:20 a.m., reports show.

"The lookout was issued, and I observed the vehicle pass my location, at which time I initiated the stop," officer James Brannon said. "Upon stopping the vehicle, a strong odor of marijuana was noted coming from the vehicle, and the driver admitted to consuming alcohol."

Field sobriety tests were administered, reports show.

"Upon field sobriety testing and self-admission of alcohol consumption by the individual, he was arrested and transported to Catoosa County jail."
