Anyone aiming to sell eggs to individuals or at a farmers market must hold an egg candling certificate. Also, anyone planning to sell eggs to a grocery store, bakery or restaurant must have their candling facilities licensed by the GDA's consumer protection division. The license can be obtained by successfully taking and passing a written examination and candling examination, according to information provided by the GDA.
The class is open to any Georgia resident and is not age restricted. There is no charge for the class, but registration is required. Classes will be in two hour intervals starting at 8 a.m. Time slots will be filled on a first come first serve basis and distance traveled will be considered. Study materials for the class will be sent to those who register from the department of agriculture after registration.
