The fourth annual spring banquet was a successful event for the Center for Hope March 2, drawing many new supporters for a night of music and fun. However, the center only raised a third of the monetary goal set for the event. Between sponsorships, ticket sales and donations, the center hoped to raise about $35,000.
“I would say it was a success,” said Center for Hope counseling coordinator and administrative assistant Alicyn Roth. “It was a full event with good speakers and excellent music, but we are a long way from our goal.”
Though the Center for Hope still has a long way to go in raising money, advocates are looking to make a larger impact on the community with upcoming events. And the inaugural Bike for Hope is sure to rev up some attention. On Saturday, April 20, bikers will join the cause for a ride in historic McLemore Cove in Chickamauga. The bicycle riders will span a 50K track (31 miles).
“I live in the cove and it’s really beautiful this time of year,” Roth said.
The Center for Hope offers counseling and treatment for people suffering from alcohol and substance abuse. Counseling services for depression, anxiety, marriage, anger management and attention disorders is also a large part of the ministry. The contributions are tax-deductible and go to fund the center, “ensuring that no one is ever turned away for inability to pay for these life-changing services,” according to event organizers.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the show barn on Mountain Cove Farm. Pre-registration for the event is $30, late registration from April 1 to the day of the event is $35. Rider sponsorship are being offered at $250 to show support for riders and for the cause.
