Chaney Rogers up for National Male Youth Athlete of the Year

Gordon Lee Middle School eighth grader Chaney Rogers has been selected by the youth sports website Youth1.com as one of its four nominees for the 2013 National Baseball Player of the Year Award, and the 2013 National Male Athlete of the Year Award.

Rogers, an All-NGAC selection in baseball, basketball, and football, was named the 13U Travel Ball Select Player of the Year Award. The lefty hit .465 with the Georgia Bandits last season with 19 homeruns and an .830 slugging percentage. He also went 15-2 on the mound with 104 strikeouts in 75 innings and a 2.85 ERA against some of the nation’s most elite talent.

Rogers' competition for National Male Athlete of the Year includes California distance runner Phillip Rocha, California wrestler Cade Olivas, and Louisiana football phenom Dylan Moses.
