Floyd County police arrested two people on drug charges Tuesday after an officer spotted them without their seat belts and stopped their vehicle, a Floyd County Jail official said.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Nekicia Renee Redwine, 35, of 167 Agnes St., and Travon Daron East, 29, of 100 Rudy St. Apt. A, each face charges in connection with the stop on Cave Spring Road, the official said.

Both Redwine and East face two counts of purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale of marijuana; and one count each of possession/manufacture/distribution of a controlled substance or marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school; sell/distribute/display/provide to a minor a drug-related object. Redwine is also charged with seat-belt and probation violations.

East was also charged with operation of a vehicle without a validation decal on a license plate, failure to show proof of insurance and a seat-belt violation.

According to authorities, an officer spotted both suspects not wearing their seat belts. He stopped the car and, after getting Redwine’s information, discovered she had a valid arrest warrant.

She was then arrested and the vehicle searched, which revealed several bags of suspected marijuana, baggies and drug paraphernalia, the official said.

Redwine and East were being held Tuesday night without bond, jail officials said.
