Friday, Aug. 24, is the last day to purchase a coupon book from Catoosa Public Schools. Funds raised will help implement the latest teaching technology in every school.

Each school will be selling coupon books, packed with hundreds of coupons totaling more than $3,000 in value. Northwest Georgia Bank donated $8,000 to sponsor this fundraiser. Proceeds from the coupon book sale will fund technology for 21st Century Classrooms in every school in the system.

Superintendent Denia Reese commented, “I think the coupon book sale is a win-win opportunity. You can save more than $3,000 by purchasing a $10 coupon book, you will be helping schools purchase current technology for our students, and you will be supporting many local merchants by redeeming their coupons.”

In 2005, Battlefield Primary School was awarded their first 21st Century Grant for technology. This year, second grade classrooms at BPS will incorporate an interactive white board, laptops and special software so teachers can use technology to lead group instruction.

Research supports that students who learn using this technology pay attention during instruction and spend a greater amount of time on task. The technology also helps teachers individualize instruction for small groups of students.

One of Reese’s goals as superintendent is to add 21st Century Classrooms in every school every year. “I expect that every school can purchase 21st Century Technology with proceeds from the coupon book sale.”

The coupon book sale began on Aug. 2 and continues until Aug. 24. The books will be available from students and in every school.

“I am so pleased that local businesses have been so supportive of this program by placing generous offers in the book,” said Reese. “I am proud for our schools to sell this coupon book because it offers a great value to the community.”
