“It will be like laying new pipe,” city manager Dan Wright commented Monday night, May 11, during a Ringgold City Council meeting.

The city approved the public works committee’s plans to line 2,700 feet of sewerage pipes in areas in which it would be difficult to replace pipes with “root intrusions.” Wright said the estimated cost of lining the pipes was less than replacing them.

Also during the work session, the council met with Daren Headrick of Spin Concepts. The city agreed to a 25-hour contract, at $65 an hour, with Spin Concepts to assist in advertising changes on the city’s website throughout the year. The city has consistently used Spin Concepts on a contractual basis for different projects online.

“We’re glad you’re helping make Ringgold look the best that it can,” mayor Joe Barger said.

In other business at the May 11 meeting:
  • The city has received a $1,806 safety grant that will be used for equipment such as road cones.

  • The city agreed to a $5,250 contract with Ringgold Telephone Co. to make a five- to seven-minute documentary-quality video for the city

  • The council meeting on May 25 has been cancelled.

  • The city is awaiting a copy of the text to be used on a historical marker provided by Georgia Civil War Heritage Trail Blazers to commemorate the Battle of Ringgold Gap. There are currently Trail Blazer signs on LaFayette Road and Ga. 2
