Walker County will sponsor the first Foothills Gallery Christmas Show on Thursday, Nov. 29, in LaFayette.

Foothills Gallery, Northwest Georgia Art Guild and area artists are gearing up for the show.

Bill Scarborough, director of the Foothills Gallery and Art Guild, which is on Wardlaw Building on North Main Street in LaFayette, talked about what patrons can expect at the Christmas show.

“They will see art they have never seen before,” he said.

The event will display various Christmas works by artists from Walker, Dade and Chattooga counties. New creations for the Christmas season and fresh selections of artwork will be on display.

Various ornaments and Christmas cards will be available at reasonable prices, starting at $8.00 each.

Decorative art blocks, for the event’s “Block Party,” will depict Mosaic art, unique painting and photographs. The art blocks are $30 each.

Linda Espy of Summerville is one of the featured artists who will be on hand at the gallery. She is nationally known for her Santa dolls and tiny baby dolls.

Linda’s dolls have appeared in such publications as Contemporary Doll Collectors magazine, Dolls magazine, Doll Castle News, and the Collectors United Doll Paper.

The artist has popular pen-and-ink drawings of the old Summerville High School, The Tavern in Trion, and the Chattooga County Courthouse. The drawings are depicted on various prints and greeting cards.

Another featured artist will be Jacqueline Greene, who is a pine needle basket artist.

Scarborough and Jim Everette will provide light background and acoustic music. They will also play Christmas and traditional folk-roots music.

“We’re keeping it fresh and new, so people will keep coming back,” Scarborough said about the gallery’s openings.

According to Scarborough, the Foothills Gallery hopes to hold openings of artwork for featured, local heroes, children’s art, and emerging artist. The emerging artist opening is slated for March.

“We are trying to have a new show every two to three months. We had a great opening in September, and we are going to provide new artwork and artists throughout the year.” Scarborough said.

The event is free to attend and welcome to the public.

Other artwork ranges from $30 to $125 each and all artists will be on hand to meet and greet the public.
