Jewell Mueller, 82, Ringgold
Jewell Katherine Slayton Mueller of Ringgold died Thursday, Dec. 30, at a local hospital. He was 82.
A resident of north Georgia for most of her life, she was a member of New Liberty Bap-tist Church and Eastern Star Post 245.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Mueller.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Williams of Chattanooga, Tenn.; son, Bill Mueller of Ringgold; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services: Monday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. in the Wallis-Stewart Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home. Burial: Lakewood Memory Gardens, South. Visitation: Saturday, Jan. 1, from 4-9 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 2, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and from 8 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Dillard Thomas, 80, Rock Spring
Dillard Thomas of Rock Spring died Monday, Dec. 27, in Naples, Fla. He was 80.
He was a lifelong resident of north Georgia and was of the Church of God faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II, and was retired from Central Soya where he served as an accountant. He was an avid cattle and hay farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Grace Glover Thomas.
Survivors include his brothers, W.L. Thomas of Cleveland Tenn., Larry Blassingame of Eton; sisters, Ina Robinson of Ooltewah, Tenn., Geneva Steed of Naples; sister through love, Lucille Creasom of Calhoun, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.

Jimmy Thompson, 65, LaFayette
Jimmy L. Thompson of LaFayette died Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Memorial Hospital. He was 65.
He attended Piedmont College in Demorest, served in the U.S. Army and officiated high school football for 20 years. He was former owner of Dari Dip and The Plantation.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Irby H. and Velma Holtzclaw Thompson; stepmother, Sarah Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Beth Thompson; daughters, Carole Lynn Reynolds of Ring-gold, Anna Christine Kevan of Satsuma, Ala.; son, Howard Scott Thompson of Dalton; sister, Claudia Giddens of Immokalee, Fla.; brother, Howard Thompson of Madison; four grand-children; and several nieces and nephews.

Marialis Allmon, 85, Forsyth
Marialis Evans Allmon died Tuesday, Dec. 28, at her home. She was 85.
She was born in Halcyondale on April 28, 1919 to the late Dr. William Walker and Alice Gertrude Burch Evans of Chattanooga, Tenn. She was a graduate of Bessie Tift College, now Mercer University, in Forsyth, where she earned double degrees in history and music piano performance. As a member of the Brian Creek Chapter of the D.A.R., she regularly performed piano solos. She also helped found the Chickamauga Georgia Public Library and served as its librarian for its first 19 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Chickamauga, where her late husband, Rev. Richard H. Allmon, pastored from 1959 to 1983.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Carey and Lamar Russell of Forsyth, Mary and Frank Epstein of Brookline, Mass., Susan and Steve Mullis of Summerville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Frances Massey Evans.
Services: Thursday, Dec. 30, at 12:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Dr. Dan Whitaker and Dr. Darrell Watson officiating. Wilburn Ash, 89, LaFayette
Wilburn Roscoe Ash of LaFayette died Sunday, Dec. 26, in Parkridge Hospital in Chatta-nooga. He was 89.
He was born Feb. 25, 1915 in Copperhill, Tenn., the son of the late Thomas and Sarah Bry-ant Ash. He was a retired textile worker.
He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Joyce Faye Ash, Sarah Elizabeth Ellison; brothers, Cecil Ash, Flavis Ash; sisters, Mandy Lynn, Della Patterson and Minnie Garrett.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Pauline Ash; daughter, Dale Lowe of Higdon, Ala.; sons, Buddy Ash, Wilburn Ash, Donnie Ash, all of LaFayette, Doyle Ash of Fyffe, Ala.; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

Paula Denise Johnson Carter of Chickamauga died Sunday, Dec. 26. She was 45.
She was born in LaFayette, lived in Melbourne Beach, Fla. from 1980 to 1993, and lived the rest of her life in Chickamauga. She was employed at Stylist Too as a hair stylist and cos-metologist. She enjoyed participating in Locks of Love for cancer patients. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Chickamauga.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Arnold Johnson.

Henry “Tommy” Pinion of Ringgold died Sunday, Dec. 26, at a local hospital. He was 63.
A lifelong resident of the north Georgia and Chattanooga area, he was a former employee of Olan Mills, where he worked for 22 years. He was a member of Old Fort Baptist Church.

Laura Clemmons, 66, Fort Oglethorpe
Laura Mae Clemmons of Fort Oglethorpe died Friday, Dec. 24, at a local hospital. She was 66.
She was a member of Fort Oglethorpe First Baptist Church and served as a preschool teacher for more than 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Z.B. and Mary L. Ross; brother, Lester A. Ross; sisters, Frances Sloan and Thelma Sherlin.

David Allen Huskey of Ringgold died Thursday, Dec. 23. He was 79.
He was a lifelong resident of north Georgia and attended Westside Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a Navy veteran of World War II and was on the U.S.S. Yorktown during the Pearl Harbor attack. He was retired from Dixie Yarns after more than 45 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Zora and Mack Huskey; son, Jerry Allen Huskey; brother, John Huskey; sister, Ruby Anderson.

Avolo Marie Hill Kinsey of Chickamauga died Friday, Dec. 24. She was 92.
She was born in Rutherford County to the late Ben and Cora Haney Hill. She was a mem-ber of Lookout Baptist Church in High Point and had lived in the community since 1946.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Luther Kinsey; several siblings.

Marvin Kelley Lockman Sr. of Ringgold died Sunday, Dec. 26, at a local healthcare facil-ity. He was 74.
He was a lifelong resident of north Georgia and attended East Ridge Church of God. He was retired from Southern Railway after 27 years of service and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by stepson, David Ray Oliver.

Alice McGee, 86, Lincolnton
Alice Shattuck McGee of Lincolnton died Monday, Dec. 20, at University Hospital in Augusta. She was 86.
She was born in Walker County to the late Norman and Annie Shattuck of LaFayette. She lived most of her life in Lincolnton where she was a former Girl Scout leader and a dedicated member of several local service clubs. She was a bookkeeper for many years at Smalley’s Fur-niture and Appliance in Lincolnton, and Poss Hardware, Wilhoit Gas and Fern Acres Farms in Washington. She was a member and former Sunday school teacher of Greenwood Baptist Church. She was a dedicated, caring and loving mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, whose heart’s desire was for her family to be well and happy and to live life to its fullest.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Alexander McGee Sr.

Doyle James McGlamery Sr. of Chattanooga, Tenn., died Thursday, Dec. 23, at his home. He was 77.
A native and lifelong resident of Chattanooga and north Georgia, he was a U.S. Navy vet-eran of World War II, having served on the U.S.S. Hornet. He was a Baptist. He was employed as a warehouse salesman and had been employed by Budweiser and M&M Concrete.

Florence Amanda Prince Hunter Hill of Chickamauga died Wednesday, Dec. 22, at a local hospital. She was 84.
A lifelong resident of north Georgia she was a former employee of Cyrstal Springs Bleachery and retired from Barker’s Grocery Store.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William “Ray” Hunter; second husband, Carl “Owen” Hill; parents, Ira and Minnie Lee Prince; and 12 brothers and sisters.

Jessie Faustine Baker Lucas of Chattanooga died Wednesday, Dec. 22 in a local hospital. She was 92.
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, she was a member of St. Elmo United Methodist Church and was a 1932 graduate Edmondson Business College. She worked for Lucas Brothers Commercial Plumbing and Heating and retired from Lovemans/Proffitt’s in 1993 after 30 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Lucas; son, Joseph Edward “Tony” Lucas; one brother; and two sisters.

Paul Jerry Masters of Rossville died Wednesday, Dec. 22. He was 55.
A lifelong resident of the Rossville area, he was born in Walker County to the late James and Lola Masters. He served as a marine in the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe and Jimmy Masters.

A native of Warren County, she had lived in the Atlanta area for over 50 years. She moved to Amelia Island seven years ago. She was a 1943 graduate of LaFayette High School. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Fernandina Beach, Fla.

Until her illness she was an active member and teacher of Mount Carmel United Method-ist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Miller Pickell; son, Miller Lamar Pickell; grandson, Thomas Pickell.

Rodney Jack Short of Rossville died Wednesday, Dec. 22, at his home. He was 30.
He was a lifelong resident of the Rossville and Fort Oglethorpe areas and was a 1992 graduate of Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School. He was an author of poetry and enjoyed listening to music.

Jack Harmon Parrish of Chickamauga died Sunday, Dec. 12. He was 83.
He was born in Walker County to the late Lee and Alice Harp Parrish. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war he worked for Crystal Springs Bleachery/Dan River Mill in Chickamauga, from which he retired after 32 years of service. He was a member of Bible Way Baptist Church on Lakeview Drive and had lived in Rossville for the past three years. He was an avid gardener, and a loving husband, father and grandfa-ther.

Thomas Burl Cross Sr. of Chickamauga died Wednesday, Dec. 8. He was 81.
The son of the late Jesse and Mary Kate Cross, he was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a Combustion Engineering retiree after 35 years of service. He was a dedicated member of Gordon Lake Wesleyan Church in LaFayette.

Arline T. McCall, most recently of Rossville, died Tuesday, Dec. 7. She was 85.
She lived most of her life in Cleveland, Ohio, and Lady Lake, Fla. She was a public schoolteacher and loved traveling. She was of the Lutheran faith.
