Pauline Blewer, 88, Chattanooga, Tenn.
Pauline J. Blewer of Chattanooga, Tenn., died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at her residence. She was 88.
She was a native of Harriman, Tenn., and lived most of her life in Chattanooga where she had been a longtime member of East Lake Baptist Church and most recently a member of Valley Memorial Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Blewer; three sons, John Paul Blewer, Grady Albert Blewer, Charles Samuel Blewer; brother, Leonard Whitlock.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Nancy Blewer of Lookout Valley; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Danny Boyd of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
Services: Wednesday, Jan. 2, at 2 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel with Revs. Paul Grider and Horace Crawford officiating. Interment: Lakewood South Memory Gardens. Amy Tinker Bryson of Lookout Valley died Friday, Dec. 28, 2007 at a local hospital. She was 78.
She was a lifelong resident of Lookout Valley and worked with several medical facilities in the Chattanooga area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ola Tinker.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Rick Chesnutt of Chickamauga; son, Randy Ellison of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn.; two beloved cousins, Danny Tinker of Lookout Valley, Donny Smith of Tracy City, Tenn.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Oraleen Buffington, 89, Perry
Oraleen Palmer Buffington of Perry died Friday, Dec. 28, 2007. She was 89.
She was born April 8, 1918 in Ider, Ala., to the late Lewis and Mary York Palmer. She was of the Baptist faith, a member of Calvary Memorial Church and a houseparent at Bonnie Oaks School for more than 10 years.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arnold T. Buffington; five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Belva Jean and Dick Roughton of Perry; brother, Charles Palmer of Ider; grandson Ricky Robinson of Ooltewah, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren.

Robert Crosslin Sr., 70 , Chickamauga
Robert Grant Bob Crosslin Sr. of Chickamauga died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007. He was 70.
He was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was also an Air Force veteran and retired from Mohawk Industries after many years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Jewel Crosslin; grandson, Wade Autry.
Survivors include his loving wife of more than 49 years, Virginia Crosslin of Chickamauga; sister, Elizabeth Timar of Marietta; daughter and son-in-law, Pene and Jack Nelms of Flintstone; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Grant Jr. and Barbie Crosslin of Lookout Valley, Greg and Amberly Crosslin of Ringgold; five grandchildren, Leveeta Jones, Scott, Tiffany, Austin and Chase Crosslin; two great-grandchildren, Garret Autry and Shelby Jones.

Erma Morris, 78, Chickamauga
Erma Grace Dill Keeton Morris of Chickamauga died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007. She was 78.
She was born in Harrison, Tenn., to the late Shirley J. and Henrietta McKeel Dill. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Oakwood Baptist Church in Chickamauga. She had formerly enjoyed working at the Chickamauga Drug Store for several years. She enjoyed flowers and reading her Bible.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Morris; son-in-law, Phillip R. Henderson; several siblings.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Henderson; sons, Tony Keeton, Stanley Keeton and his fiancée, Kelli Bryant, all of Chickamauga; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Kathy Morris of Wedowee, Ala.; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

June Morris, 81, Rossville
June K. Morris of Rossville died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007 at a local hospital. She was 81.
She was a native of Waycross and a longtime resident of North Georgia. She was a member of Lakeview First Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary, and later was a member of the Ruth Sunday School class. She was retired from Provident Insurance Co.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Morris, parents, H.A. and Hattie Evans King; two brothers, Jack and Daniel C. King. Although she had no natural children, she had plenty of love and cared for many children.
Survivors include stepmother, Joyce Jones of Waycross; niece, Harriett Ferrell of Savannah; several cousins.

Sharon Prince, 65, Rossville
Sharon Loraine Prince of Rossville died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 after her courageous battle with cancer. She was 65.
Her proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren. She was born April 5, 1942 in Marsh, Mont., a daughter of the late Aaron and Emma Speidel Meidinger. She worked all of her life and made many friends on the job. She was very generous to anyone in need and spent her last working years sitting with the elderly. Her passion was her grandchildren.
A devoted mother and grandmother is survived by her daughter, Karen (Jeff) Mays of Chattanooga, Tenn.; son, Jerry (Marla) Prince of Chickamauga; grandchildren, Hannah, Rebekah and Joshua Mays, Monica and Molly Prince.
Other survivors include four sisters, Daphine (Lyle) Fiechtner, Judy (Bud) Walker, Josephine Meidinger, Cheryl Klang, all of Miles City, Mont.; six brothers, Mervin (Dorothy) Meidinger, Jerry (Janis) Meidinger, Kenny (Di-anne) Meidinger, Leroy (Lori) Meidinger, Clinton (Beva) Meidinger of Miles City, Leon Meidinger of Duluth, Minn.; several nieces and nephews.

He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga, Tenn., and north Georgia area. He owned Friars Restaurant in Chattanooga and Friars Used Cars in Rossville. He was of the Baptist faith and was associated with Westside Baptist Church in Fort Oglethorpe. He was also a U.S. Army veteran in the 65th Infantry Division with Pattons Third and a life member of the DAV.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lila Watson Friar; two brothers, Thomas William and Robert Watson Friar.

Gerinthia Janie Granny Holcomb of Chattanooga, Tenn., died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007. She was 60.
She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was of the Church of God faith. She had a passion for singing and going to church and will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

He was born in Chickamauga to the late Thomas Henry and Eler Mae Pruitt Maner. He was of the Methodist faith and was a member of Kensington United Methodist Church. He retired from North Georgia Electric Membership Corp. after 33 years of employment.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane Clements Maner; daughter, Suzanne Maner.

Barbara Tripp, 64, Ringgold
Barbara Loucille Jones Tripp of Ringgold died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was 64.
She was born in Cookeville, Tenn., to the late Manuel and Lassie Jones, but lived in the north Georgia area for the last 42 years. She was a member of St. Gerards Catholic Church, where she participated in the Pastoral Council for more than 10 years, was a member of the Ladies Guild and past president and was the chairperson of the Telephone and Bereavement Committees. She was also a Chattanooga area swim league official for more than 20 years and had worked at the City of Ringgold Pool in the concession area and later as pool manager. She retired from the Catoosa County Board of Education in 2005 after 32 years of service as paraprofessional and was a member of the Catoosa County Retired Educators Association.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe, John, Robert, Charlie and Ben; sisters, Maudie, Joyce and Frances.
Survivors include her loving husband of more than 43 years, Bruce Allen Tripp of Ringgold; two daughters and sons-in-law, Beth Tripp and Mike Sims of Ringgold, Deanna and Jerry Dubberly of Alpharetta; former son-in-law, Mike McKeever of Ringgold; several siblings, Jessie Davis, Dee Davis, Geraldine Young, Fannie Ellis, James Jones, Ike Jones; grandchildren, Jennifer McKeever Adkisson, Jeremy McKeever, Jacob Tripp, Mackenzie Dubberly; several nieces and nephews.

She was a native of Walker County and was the daughter of the late Marshall and Nola Mae Childress-Miller. She was retired from Lockheed Industries and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Coffman; son, Donnie Coffman.

Ronald Romine Sr. of Rossville died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007 at his home. He was 61.
He was born in Hamilton County, Tenn., to the late George and Ada Mae (Cochran) Romine. He was well known in Northwest Georgia for being a camera operator for UCTV for 21 years and enjoyed working with the communities it served. He was of the Baptist faith and a avid NASCAR fan for No. 24 Jeff Gordon.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Donald Romine.

She was born in Skeet Rock, Va., to the late Robert and Maggie Alley (Colley) Artrip. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Fame Johnson.
Survivors include her loving husband of 52 years, Avery Damron of LaFayette; son, Avery Reid Damron of Chickamauga; brother, Bud Artrip of North Carolina, Dorsey Phips, Betty Jean Monahan, both of Virginia, Annette Thompson of Louisiana; three granddaughters, four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

William Herman Headrick of LaFayette died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007. He was 73.
He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga, Tenn., and North Georgia areas and was a member of Lake Howard Baptist Church, where he had been a Sunday school teacher. He was an Air Force veteran and retired from TVA and Pipe Fitters Local No. 43 in 1994 after more than 40 years of service. He was involved with the church missionaries and was a Sunday school teacher of more than 30 years. He was an exotic bird enthusiast and enjoyed fishing and fly fishing, and raised Coi fish.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marie Headrick; daughter, Lisa Grace Hankins; sister, Joyce Smith.

He was a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., but lived in the Kennesaw area for the past five years and was formerly of Ringgold. He was an employee of Marietta City Schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he served during the Korean War.

Debra Lynn Hawkins of LaFayette died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007 at her resi-dence. She was 52.
She was born in Walker County on June 27, 1955, the daughter of the late Edward Tucker and Martha Lanier Tucker. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Tucker.

Ruth Kennedy, 76, Lookout Mountain, Tenn.
Ruth Elizabeth Kennedy of Lookout Mountain, Tenn., died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007. She was 76.
She was born and raised in Mount Vernon, N.Y., and was a graduate of The College of New Rochelle, N.Y. In her early 30s, she moved to Studio City, Calif. She spent her entire working career in the entertainment industry as executive assistant to several movie producers and directors. Her last 25 working years, she assisted Dan Curtis, a writer, director and producer of a number of movies and TV shows, the most notable of which was the Emmy-award winning Winds of War/War of Remembrance. Shortly after her retirement, she moved to Lookout Mountain in early 1996. She dedicated her time and energy as a volunteer to a number of organizations, including the Ronald McDonald House, the Hunter Museum and the downtown public library. She was an active member of The Church of the Good Shepherd, where she volunteered in the bookstore, the office and coordinated the churchs shuttle service.
Survivors include those whom she considered her family, dear friend, Ethel Vreeland and her family; Donna Vreeland and son, Frank Jacobs, Warren (Barbara Ann) Vreeland and their children Heidi and Robbie; Joanne Vreeland Stabile and her children Nick and Alex (Mark) Stabile Williams and their daughter, Samantha; and dear friend Patti Holmes.
Services: Thursday, Dec. 20, at 2:30 p.m. at The Church of the Good Shepherd with the Rev. Dex Bender officiating. A reception will follow immediately after the services in the churchs Talbird Hall. Rita Ann Little of Rossville died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007 at a local health care facility. She was 72.
She was the daughter of the late James and Helen Little, and a member of East Lake Baptist Church.

Richard Carl Shipman died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007 at DeKalb Regional Hospital.

Thelma Juanita Wann of Rossville died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007. She was 78.
She lived in the Fairview area for most of life and was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church. She was a 1947 graduate of Rossville High School and was previously employed as a bookkeeper for Martin Service Co. She was devoted to her family and loved being around and sharing life with people.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Virgie Bass; son, Rodney Alan Wann; brother, Lebron Bass.
Survivors include her husband, Avery Wann Jr. of Rossville; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and John Ball of Ringgold; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sheila Wann of Birmingham, Ala.; sister, Bettie Ann Forester of Cartersville; seven grandchildren, Ginger, Kevin, Bali, Shay and Shaun Wann, Vincent and Cory Ball; five great-grandchildren, Skylar and Emma Ball, Andrew, Adam and Amber Wann; several nieces and nephews.

Russell Avans, 84, Chattanooga, Tenn.
Russell LeBron Avans of Chattanooga, Tenn., died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007 at a local hospital. He was 84.
He was a lifelong resident of Rossville and was a member of Simpson Memorial United Methodist Church. He enjoyed bowling, boating, chess and photography.
He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Avans; four sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Josie Blake Avans; nephews, Bobby and Johnny Baker, Lamar (Wad), Rhudy Wall, David Ramsey; special friends, Mary Rowley, Jeff and Phil Perry; caring neighbors, Patsy and Larry Putnam, David and Denise Ridge.

Arthur G. Kirby of Ringgold died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007 at a local hospital. He was 78.
He had been a resident of North Georgia for 17 years, coming from Waukegan, Ill. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service and was a member of the UAW.

Ralph McClure, 81, Ringgold
Ralph L. McClure of Ringgold died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007. He was 81.
He was born in Lookout Mountain, Ga., to the late James and Martha (Trotter) McClure. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from C.F. Industries after 20 years of service. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Temple in Fort Oglethorpe and the Shriners Parade Team.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Leona (Roe) McClure of Ringgold; many nieces and nephews.

Helen Marie Nelson of Rossville died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007 at a local hospital. She was 97.
She had been a resident of Bentley Place in Rossville for 30 years, coming from Coral Gables, Fla. She was of the Baptist faith and had been at National HealthCare before moving to St. Barnabas several months ago. She loved her family and will be sadly missed. She was most loved by her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Nelson; brother, Richard Jenkins; sister, Pluma West; a grandchild.
