Nick Sholtz went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and five runs driven in to help lift LaFayette (5-3, 4-2) to a 9-4 Region 6-AA victory at Model on Tuesday afternoon.

Sholtz jumpstarted the Rambler offense with a two-run home run in the third inning and delivered a two-run single as part of a three-run fifth.

He also added a sacrifice fly in the sixth for his final RBI of the day.

Matthew Yarbrough chipped in with a two-run single in the sixth. Zach Carrell was 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored while Chris Battles also had two hits and scored twice.

Clint Cleveland got the win on the hill, going five innings while allowing four hits, one earned run and two walks with four strikeouts. Matt Kirby worked two innings of one-hit

ball, walking one and fanning two.

Gordon Lee 4, Boyd-Buchanan 3

In the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader in Chickamauga, the Trojans took advantage of three Buccaneer errors in the bottom of the seventh and pulled out a come-from-behind 4-3 win.

The game-winning run came off a bases loaded squeeze bunt by Garett Burgess that scored Patrick Mattos from third.

Burgess pitched six innings and struck out six. Will Brooks

got the win in relief, working the seventh inning.

Each team collected just four hits. Mattos had two of the four hits for Gordon Lee (8-4)
