Local equestrian team finishes third in IEA team competition

The Little River Equestrian team finished third in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association show in Woodstock, Ga. this past weekend.

The Little River Equestrian team, coached by Amy Lanier of Lookout Mountain, is composed of local high school students. Team members include Lydia Kennedy (Baylor School), Hannah Ross (CSAS), Anna Lueken (Heritage), Katie Bass (Ringgold High School), Ashley Baumgardner (Red Bank) and Laura Smith (Gordon Lee High School).

Individual efforts included a first place by Lydia Kennedy in two-foot six-inch jumping, second place by Hannah Ross in equitation on the flat, third place by Laura Smith in equitation on the flat, fourth place by Anna Lueken in equitation on the flat, fifth place by Katie Bass in equitation on the flat, sixth place finishes by Ashley Baumgardner on the flat and Katie Bass in cross rail jumping and Baumgardner also placed seventh in cross rail jumping.

Lanier, a former Berry College equestrian champion, said, “I am very proud of all the girls and their efforts to contribute to the strong finish of our team.”
