The Eagles opened the year with an 18-0 setback to Heritage.
Despite the loss, the Eagles got good offensive line blocking by Dakota Pace, Sam Cobb, Matt Tittle, Joseph Fincher, and Daniel Stoker as they allowed Zach Weathers to rush for 100 yards.
But penalties and turnovers at crucial times led doomed CVMS. Quarterback Larry Turner connected on 2-of-3 passes, both to Michael Brown.
The line had another solid game against Dade, but it was not enough to overcome three turnovers in a 30-8 loss.
Weathers led the Eagles in rushing once more while added 30 yards on two receptions from Jacob Russell. Russell and Brown also hooked up for a 35-yard touchdown pass. Cobb led the defensive effort from his linebacker spot.
The CVMS junior varsity squad is also 0-2 after getting shutout by Heritage (14-0) and Dade (22-0). Sixth grader Ivey Boem has been an offensive and defensive standout in both games.
CVMS will go on the road to play Grace Academy on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Chattanooga.
