Adelaide Sawyer celebrates 100th birthday

Adelaide Sawyer turned 100 years old Sept. 22. A birthday celebration will be held Sept. 25 at the Heritage Health Care Center of Blue Ridge, Ga. Adelade is the wife of the late Laurance Sawyer, who was also known as the Bluebird Man of Georgia. Laurance was the founder of Bluebird Housing, a business which he and Adelaide ran for 32 years from their home in Ringgold. Adelaide has spent the past 12 years with her daughter Elaine and husband Edward Whittemore in Ellijay, Ga.
